Sony Blu-ray goes 3D with the introduction of the Sony BDPS470.

Featuring the latest type of HDMI socket, the BDPS470 is compatible with 3D TVs, making it the perfect partner for your 3D TV. But it doesn't end with 3D compatibility. In terms of design, features and functionality, Sony has made other great improvements to their latest Blu-ray masterpiece. New to the BDPS470 is the option of connecting to the Internet wirelessly or via the traditional Ethernet cable. Simply add a wireless dongle and your BDPS470 can integrate with your home network and "talk" to other components in the DLNA enabled loop. In conjunction with this there's full access to the BBC iPlayer and BRAVIA Internet Video for access to online video content such as YouTube. In short, there's much more you can do with a budget Blu-ray player than just playing Blu-rays and DVDs these days!

Got an iPhone or iPod Touch? Then you can take control of the BDPS470 with a special App and wireless dongle. Use the touch screen to view disc information or find YouTube video. Find out more about your Blu-ray discs by searching the Entertainment Database Browser using Gracenote technology.

For all the improvements in functionality, don't forget that the BDP-S470 is Blu-ray player - and a great one at that! Playback quality of all formats is every bit as good as you'd expect from a Sony with Sony's Precision Drive technology lending a hand to correct scratched or warped discs. As ever, the full 1080p output and HDMI interface give stunning levels of clarity and digital HD surround sound for an unparalleled cinema experience.

Thanks to Sony's Xross Media Bar, using the BDP-S470 is easy. With a boot up time of just 3 seconds and a 2 seconds tray eject, it's also quicker than ever loading up a film. BRAVIA Sync means that if you already have a Sony TV you can link to that for remote control integration.

With DNLA and 3D TV compatibility, the Sony BDPS470 is all set for the best in entertainment both now and in the future.

This is not an end of line, ex display or clearance like many of the deals RS do this is a regular item, brand new and readily available so there should be no problems with getting this deal but it is one per household only and only until close of business tomorroww.

Good luck, it is a bargain bluray, I am sorry I have just bought the s370 but thats life.

Good deal, especially as this also handles SACD for anyone that has an older failing deck on their hands.

waste of time they never have any in stock or 1. pointless putting their deals on here.

Good point. I have a brilliant Denon but it has reached the stage that I have made my own repairs to keep it going oO
Would cost the same as this to have it repaired by my local dealer.

Think you will find this is end of line, it has been replaced by the s480, this is still a good deal for the s470 one though as the only improvement in the s480 seems to be NTFS support through USB (lots of formats supported but not Divx) and people still reporting that whining noise when playing disc is still there in s380 so as s470 has same problem, ,the s480 likely to suffer it as well

I have rarely had problems with Richer Sounds stock. All you have to is phone ahead and reserve the item and then at least you won't have a wasted journey if they don't have it.

Yeah I remember you posting from before, you need something for all the wonderful Depeche Mode SACDs, in fact I have just been trying out my new rear speakers listening to some!

Doesn't play DVD-A though (obviously being Sony) but that clearly is only a problem if you have some!

Also it only supports multichannel over HDMI, so if you have an older receiver with analogue multichannel inputs then this also isn't for you.

Otherwise, you are not gonna get much cheaper than a Blu Ray player that plays SACD for under a ton!

This is a good deal, but the offer ends today, so you will need to be quick if you want one, or find one knowing Richer sounds stock levels!!

Update:

Just phoned my local store (Watford) and they have plenty of stock at the moment, but you have to collect today if you want the £99.95 price.

Hi,

I saw the comments on this thread regarding the availability of today’s Deal Of The Day for the Sony BDPS470 at £99.95.

At time of writing, the majority of our stores have this product in stock; with over 1500 further units available to order via our central warehouse!

However, don’t forget that this particular deal is only available until close of business today!

Meanwhile, if any customer has a problem getting hold of this deal from their local store today then please do feel free to PM me with your details.

Many thanks,

Ive been considering purchasing a blu-ray player but for £100 -£150 for a reasonable Sony, im considering buying a PS3 with wireless built in (the Sony wireless dongle is about £60), 3D ready etc too. If Sony didnt take the biscuit with the wireless dongle prices I would snap one of these up. Suppose their system works as they will be up-selling me!

Don't know what you're talking about - I've got this model and have no problem playing DivX or Xvid. No issues with a whining noise either!
