i just bought this from scan a couple of weeks ago. very good player.

just a note, you get PowerDVD with it, however it isn't the full version. It has all the features except it doesn't play in 5.1. I have a 5.1 speaker system set up to my pc so i couldnt use this program (well, i could, but only through 2 speakers).
#6
Does anyone know what the quality is like on a normal tft screen, i have a samsung pebble 22" type screen.
#7
please can you change the price on the header its actually £54.84 Inc VAT, good deal though.

No, it is correct.

Not a bad price, voted hot.

Prefer to spend the extra £20 myself though and pick up the LG player with HD-DVD playback.

£3 HD-DVD's here I come! :-D

quality will be as good quality as the monitor really...the drive only allows your pc to play high def discs...not how well it does it, it will read the data in same way as a £100 one,

Media Player Classic won't be able to play Blu-Rays. You need Power DVD, Nero Showtime, etc.

I have the LG HD DVD/Blu Ray Combi player which I bought for £20 more. I think it's much better as I can buy cheap HD DVDs for £3.

As for playing it on a 22" monitor, well, you really need a big 1080p 40" screen to get the full experience of 1080p. But it should look sharp on your monitor, particularly if you're sitting close.

i thin WinDVD is the best DVD/Blu-ray playback software going.

Yes it does if you buy it from Today Only and qualify for the free carriage... (Which seems to be more lenient with requirements now...)

actually it's on offer today as well - on the optical drive offer

(BTW - the link above will go directly to the optical drive offer... :))

Dumb question - could I put turn this drive into an external drive caddy and use via a laptop to connect to my TV?

My pc is the office and the TV in lounge so looking for an easy solution.

If so what kind of caddy do I need?

Thanks

all PCs automatically upscale to whatever resolution they are displaying on, they have been doing so before HD tv's were even released!

A week later and a pound cheaper, so maybe it will be free in a year's time?
