WiFi Bluetooth NFC 800W, 3D bluray player. This is a steal. My wireless speaker cost more than this. For what you are getting, I very much doubt you'd find better spec/cheaper cost.

I lost my patience last night on my previous Sony BDVE 190 300W ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B007NXA9J4/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_paging_btm_2?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=recent&pageNumber=2 ) last night because of constant hanging and non responsiveness. I ended up thrashing it to break the plastic and ended up looking for another one

I've got this system, bought to replace my ancient Panasonic system, bought it for 200 in the sale. It's very very slow to control and the max volume is too low. Picture quality is excellent and links easily to other devices eg phone, £139 is a fair price but if you buy it you will still get frustrated by it. Buy something else, I wish I had.

Thanks. I would test it extensively for a month and if its found slow, I would return it to Argos.

Thanks. If I buy that, I will be spending another 70-80 for a decent Blue-Ray player on top of that though. I am very convinced the Yamaha one is much superior audiowise.

I had a 1000 watt Sony ( but died ) ok was louder but not the quality, I do play a lot of music & the Yamaha sounds so lush. But I do get what ur saying it's all about the dollars :(

Looking at pictures of the back of this thing it has an optical input and ARC HDMI, so it is going to be infinitely more useful than most of the cheap DVD Home Cinema setups I've seen posted on here over the last few months (you are actually going to get surround sound from your external devices e.g. Sky/Virgin/PC/Console). Can't comment on the user experience or volume but on paper this looks like a good deal.

typo in the title: "Blue Ray Player"
v "Blu-ray Player"

looks a great deal

So you could actually use this as a receiver?

You are going to need to have a TV with multiple HDMI inputs and plug each device into it, but the audio from each device should be relayed to the Sony BRHC via ARC in full surround sound. I don't have my setup using ARC but that is my understanding of how it works.
The single optical input can also be used to connect one device with an optic fibre lead.

Can somebody who has purchased it in the past confirm that these are really refurbished or they are just clearing their old stock?

Cheers. Probably would work for the spare room then, seems a great price to be fair if you aren't using it for a main system.

I returned one of these about 2 years ago. Very very poor quality, no bass what so ever. Sound is just total abysmal, shame really because it looks nice.

Did you try this solution?

"You may follow the steps on the manual page 40 and 41 on how to Set the Speakers.

To adjust the speaker Level, just select LEVEL as shows on page 41. You can adjust the sound level of the speakers and set the parameters from –6.0 dB to +6.0 dB. the underlined figures are the default settings."

Hey, yeah I tried everything. I had an lg cinema system that I had before I bought one of these, which I had to adjust the bass and rear speakers volume. So... i tried sound modes, turning up the bass to max on the menu and it still sounded awful. I saw mixed reviews when I bought this a few years ago, maybe a large quantity of them where faulty? The bass was just so quite, I've bought £25 before and they where better than this.
