When space is tight but you want a quality Blu-ray system, check out the Sony BDVEF200.

TOP QUALITY BLU-RAY PLAYER

At the heart of this system lies a particularly impressive Blu-ray player. When it comes to Blu-ray, Sony is at the forefront of the technology. The Blu-ray built-in to the BDVEF200 gives stunning results - just as you'd expect from a Sony. Vibrant, sharp and smooth running with fast motion, the BDVEF200 delivers a first class video performance. It's also 3D compatible and will play a vast range of other discs including MKV, XviD and the superior sounding SACDs (Super Audio Compact Discs).

POWERFUL SOUND FROM JUST 3 SPEAKERS

If you fancy an improvement over your existing TV's speakers but don't want or can't accommodate a 5.1 speaker system, then the BDVEF200 is ideal. Coming complete with twin stereo speakers and a separate subwoofer, the BDVEF200 sounds both spacious and powerful. The subwoofer ensures enough punch for even the most dynamic soundtracks, while the stereo speakers give detail and an enveloping sound that you simply won't find from TV speakers.

FEATURE-PACKED

In terms of features the Sony really scores. Sony's BRAVIA Internet connection lets you tap into a wide range of Apps via your home network hub. Connect via Ethernet or use an optional wireless dongle and you can access content such as the BBC iPlayer and YouTube. There's also a simple web browser included, letting you keep track of most web sites. If you just fancy listening to music you can use the Blu-ray drive to play CDs, listen to your iPod or iPhone via the supplied dock or USB socket or simply turn on the FM radio. Either way, the sound quality is impressive by all-in-one standards.

For an upgrade in both sound and picture quality, the Sony BDVEF200 is an all-in-one wonder.

Could anybody clarify please, if I already own a Sony blu ray player (BDPS480B.CEK), can I just buy the speakers to have 5.1? Or do I need to buy another device? Could anybody provide a link of 5.1 speakers compatible with the sony blu ray player or what else do I need?

You need an AV receiver and speakers. If you just want the entire system in one box my personal recommendation would be either of these two:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/1-box-home-cinema-systems/yamaha/yht196/yama-yht196
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/1-box-home-cinema-systems/onkyo/hts3405/onky-hts3405-blk

Personally I'd go with the Onkyo, as my current Onkyo system is great, but the Yamaha is superb for the money.

Hi, thanks for your help. I've seen some speaker systems that have the "receiver" integrated inside the subwoofer, like the Sony HTAS5, as I don't like to have yet another box in my living room, could you recommend some of these?

Great deal, but I think I'll keep looking for a 5.1 system.

    Very tempting though...

I don't think money has anything to do with it for most people. 2.1 systems fill a large void for people with small rooms and those that do not want wires all around the room, there is a market because people want it....

I went in to RIchersounds and when i mentioned the M&S deal they looked online and price matched the BDV-E280.

I bought this a couple of months ago when it was previously reduced though I bought it through Amazon as I had vouchers to use. As has already been said, the satelites are pretty poor but the base is good. The internet video services are also excellent if a little fiddly to navigate and search for content.

Because they don't want/need 5.1 or can't be bothered with the hassle of running extra wires around their room? Since we have a baby who has just started crawling we don't need more things in the living room he can pull over or get himself tangled in. And 2.1 suits us just fine.
...and NO IT WONT MAKE STUFF 3D ON A NON 3D TELLY...

So he's justed started crawling?,so you'll be watching every minute/constantly. Therefore i doubt you'd let him crawl behind the couch/furniture where the wires will be against the walls/under the carpet. But 5.1 for an extra £30??..having HD tv and 2.1 sound is reducing the experience alot......each to their own, whatever suits you guys..

Got the 5.1 deal from Richer Sounds they pricematched M&S and I paid the extra £15 for the 5 year warranty which is brilliant.

Also get the two free 3d blu ray HP films which is great and I might as well juts get 5.1 and I can detach some speakers if it gets too annoying.

Sign up online for Richer Sounds VIP club and get another £10 off when shopping in-store.

Paid £119.95 for it at the weekend at Richer Sounds Bristol with the voucher. Wanted something to beef up my new Sony LED TV sound with and this certainly does the job. Simple, straight forward, and integrates intuitively with the Sony TV all working off one remote. Really pleased with it.

In store literature suggests the Harry Potter Blu-ray deal expires 31/3/12. Phone call to Sony Helpline confirms it's been extended until 31/8/12.
