All of the info is here:)

I have a similar Sony system (albeit non-blu ray) and it works a treat with my KDL40W5500, PS3 and BT Vision set-up

No HD in for Sky HD, PS3, Xbox etc per the specs linked?
#12
If you connect everything to the TV, than the TV to the plu ray player, than the sound for everything connected to the TV i.e PS3 VIrgin box etc will come out of the blu ray systems speakers.
#13

Good price for a bluray amp speakers combi, mind, if you already have a blu ray player or ps3, be aware that if the bluray player goes tits up, so does the sound system, at this price range you could afford a very nice set of speakers, if you already have bluray player, I myself would hold out and save a tad more for a decent amp. Then you have the best versatility, and can also upgrade individual stuff as your bank balance allows, that's the problem with these combi's resale is limited and then you have to buy everything again.

How much are just HD 5.1/7.1 speakers (preferably sony) with no blu ray player. which just go into tv.

I am asking and not googling because im confused, i seen these in sony centre more expensive then with blu ray player.
#22

You'd also need a surround sound AMP. No speakers plug straight into the TV. A decent budget amp will cost from £150 up and speakers from £100 up to £400 for a set of budgets. The skys the limit for a decent Amp & Speakers.

Don't think that will decode 5.1

usually you plug your device, PS3 / Xbox / Sky / V+ etc optical output into the back of the blu ray player, (you can get junction boxes for this if there is only one optical in port on the blu ray.)
offer seems ok .... i'm sure it's old though and won't be long for new model and other stores (online etc) to drop price

I bought this deal 2 weeks ago when I got an advanced invitation.

I have also purchased the wireless WAHT-SA1 to connect the rear speakers too. This wireless unit is on back order for sony retailers in the UK till 2nd Feb 2010 but Sony have ringfenced some stock centrally for supply via Sony direct. See sony.co.uk for the phone number.

Really is an impressive bit of kit and a bargain at this price.

I have connected my Sky HD via Digital 75ohm co-axial for Dolby 5.1
I have an Xbox elite connected by optical from the Xbox component Y/Cb/Cr lead rather than HDMI ( Means picture is 1080i rather than 1080p but really is not noticable on my 42" Panasonic Plasma)
Haven't bothered connecting the TV sound to the unit as I watch all of my terrestial TV through Sky anyway.

Hope that is helpful

Fab find - I've been looking for a surrround sound system with an i-Pod dock for a while now, and its hard to find any standard branded DVD surround systems (with i-pod dock) under £200 (have been considering an LG system which is on at Richer Sounds for £199). For Blue Ray this looks a steal, the challenge for me is there is a lack of Apollo stores down here in Devon!.

Good find op
#31
Looks like they do home delivery for £14.99
#32
Good deal but I think this may be expired now, I phoned Birmingham store who state that 'all units have been sold in entire company'.
#33
Th LG Home Cinema system with i-POD dock that I was referring to is on sale at Argos for £199 if anybody is interested:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0851558.htm

Not Blue-Ray, but not a bad looking system.

None anywhere, same old send flyers out to get folk through the door.marketing at it's worst... Sorry to sound negative :-(

Could anybody who understands help me out: so confused about what to do. I have an old bravia v3000 and ps3. I would like to be able to get 'HD AUDIO' using a hdmi cable to connect the ps3 to a new combi amp/speaker system, as i watch all my blurays on the ps3. Is this even possible - there seem to be so few branded combi systems which are able to do this (the only others i am aware of are the htsf1300/htff1300). Would this system do the job for me. I also have a wii i would like to connect too so would i get freeview/wii through 5.1.
#36
Just rang up 'Sutton Colefireld'. The nice gent on the other end said that 100's of these were sold so quickly - no stock left and no date for expected next stock delievery. Therefore he said we should try again in Janurary.

Personally i think that this might just be for marketing, not gettin my hopes up.

Did anyone actually manage to land one of these systems?

Some help suggesting what type of system to get with my above problem would be appreciated!

If your still going to play blu-rays through the PS3 then connect the PS3 to the TV with HDMI and to this unit with an optical toslink cable and change the setting in the PS3 to not put sound down the HDMI. The optical connection transmits HD 7.1. Besides you should avoid switches etc in an hdmi because you introduce more connections which degrade the picture quality and introduce noise!!!

P.S I did manage to pick up one of these 2 weeks ago. Got an advanced invitation to the sale as a previous customer. Hardly supprising these have sold out at the price.

no speakers just go into the tv, you will need an amplifier to plug the speakers into
#40
I have one of these systems and the bluray player does 5.1 sound through the HDMI lead, it has one digital optical input which I have my XBOX 360 plugged into for 5.1 sound and it has one digital coaxial input which I have my Sky HD box into for 5.1 sound. Anything else will just come out as stereo and not 5.1.
