not the best reviewed 3D TV, but at that price one can't complain too much. Note glasses are not provided with this model, factor in the price of those. Heat added.

This is an excellent deal, I got the 503 for the same price a few years ago. TOP TOP TV!

I bought the 32inch cello from them, 3d is great! £249

Voted hot for it's 2D picture quality and 5 year guarantee at this price.
If you really want it for 3D though, I wouldn't bother.

so is this better than panny viera for 299 from john lewis?
from what I can tell this is LED LCD vs IPS Alpha (+ for panny)
thing that would swing me towards sony is recording to usb hdd from FreeviewHD... I wonder if it could work in the background...

I posted the Panasonic deal, however, I do think this Sony is worth the extra £49

Have spoken to Sony Centre about this, they have the next model up at £749 which doesnt need the additional internet dongle. The official sony site is showing this with MotionFlow PLus - so the 100Hz refresh rate is interlaced up to 200Hz. Also this can receive the MPEG 4 HD wireless signal from the Sony Tablet, which most older models cannot do.

For these reasons I am ordering...

Great Telly. I have the kdl hx923 but that cost me silly money, for a few hundred quid this is a lovely looking set

TV definitely does have a Freeview HD Tuner

Can't get the half price del with Blu-Ray player and 3D glasses kit to work, anyone else had success with this?? It should definitely be valid as it is something called the Sony Perfect Partners Promotion, they run it every year, the idea is to tempt people into buying the right stuff to go with there TV by reducing it...

Fantastic deal, i brought the 46" version of this model from comet just before xmas for around £700 (10%off through work 15%off voucher & £150 cashback from Sony) i also got the 3D Movie Bundle (half price £125 because i brought the T.V).
marks&spencer have the 3D movie bundle here:
http://www.marksandspencer.com/Sony-3D-Movie-Bundle-Kit/dp/B002LHIFYS?extid=TP_2_FRO_T_MSF_
Not sure if you can get it half price like i did though, but its worth a look into it. If you dont want to buy the bundle and want to stay with Sony, then try and get TDG-BR250/B Active 3D Glasses instead of theb TDG-BR100B Active 3D Glasses as they are the newer updated model which dont need batteries (you just charge them with the USB cable they supply).

The picture quality in SD and HD sky channels are absolutely fantastic.
The picture quality on PS3 games / Blu rays is also fantastic.
The 3D picture is ok, but there are alot of other T.V's that do it better. This set suffers with Crosstalk (or image ghosting) alot of 3D T.V's do but i only really use the 3D for the PS3 which seems to cope well i usually just turn the 3D settings down slightly which improves the Crosstalk.
The sound also seemed good but i only tested the speakers quickly to make sure they worked before hooking it up to my HT-IS100 Home theatre system.
If you want to use the "Smart T.V" Functions (internet, apps, updates etc) you will need a Sony UWABR100 USB Network Adapter, they have them here on amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0036XX4G0
Or if you are like me and are lucky enough to have your router right next to the T.V you can just connect it by an ethernet cable.

The T.V definetly has freeview HD built in and there is also a record option if you hook up a HDD or a large capacity USB stick. (i haven't tried this though as i just use Sky HD+)

Hope this helps a few people, and if you have any questions about this model i'll try and answer them for you if i can.

Awful 3D set, but ignore that, 1080p, freeview hd and the internet features, the nearest with Panasonic is the E30 range, which is out of this price bracket!

It was in store unfortunately. I've not even turned it on yet. Just set up the stand. I think it may fall under the "faulty" category shortly :)

3d is pointless on a tv that small unless you sit uncomfortably close

Haha correct. You think it'll work? I can't get there till tomorrow though so I guess the Sony will be sold out. The D5000 is actually only 50hz btw, not the 100hz that was stated.

Knowing Currys... not a chance! Like dealing with criminals!

Have they actually stated anywhere that it is 100hz though? Technically though, it can be said to be as it has a 100hz clear motion rate.

Unsure what you could say to convince them to refund - they test the tv's whilst you are in the shop I believe, so you cannot really "invent" a problem.

seems perfect as i'm looking for a good quality nice sized internet ready tv. Going to be moving into my new house next month and will very likely be signing up to sky for a bundle package. They seem to always have m&s vouchers thrown in.

Really don't want to miss out on this but what do you think the odds are of this deal being on again in he next few months?

Would hate to miss out on the 5 year warrenty and any 3D functionality, at this stage is some bonus to get thrown in as well!

For information, the current Amazon price is £450 with 1 Year Warranty, which coincidentally is the lowest Amazon price it's ever been.

I think the nearest viable alternative to this Sony is the 2D Samsung UE32D5520 ... £429 at John Lewis inc 5 Year Warranty. This Sony is a very good deal.

Hmm...Currys are criminals but you're trying to invent a fault so they'll take the TV back you just bought.

Who is the criminal here? :p

You need to make up a fault that may not be reproduceable in 5 mins like "it dropped the HDMI signal an hour into a Blu ray movie, and it's definitely not the player as it did it with my other player too... etc"

From what I can tell, the Panny is not an Internet TV. That's the big point for me. It's also not full HD, nor LED, nor 3D (which doesn't matter much to me, and from the reviews, the Sony isn't a good 3D tv anyway). All in all, I think the Sony is very worth the extra cost. Oh, and I think the Panny is 50 hz whilst this one is 100.

I ordered one this morning before this deal was posted, was waiting to post until they took payment as I've been scuppered in various ways before with orders, lol. Hopefully this one will come (the last hot deal from M&S I found was a sony for 249, and they took payment and sent a despatch email -- then called to say it wasn't coming. Doh!)
