I think Richer charges extra for 5 Year warranty (£329) and when you throw in the Free delivery the price would come around the same. You are right it is Guarantee,:-D

Can some experts out there shed some light on this bit please?

This guarantee excludes faults caused by accident, neglect, misuse, not following the instructions and normal wear and tear.

What is meant by normal wear and tear and how can they void the guarantee?
#7
delivery in 2 weeks....doesn't say OOS on my browser....perhaps its location specific

invalid condition in my opinion, should stand up to wear and tear, sale of goods act - fit for purpose, report to local trading standards. Also unfair contract term!

guarantees are a bit of a con really and are in addition to your statutory rights. They do save you the hassle though of going through small claims court if it become necessary and the supplier wont play ball.

you have to be careful as these are only 2 day or special sales prices and Currys may try to wriggle out of it by citing their special terms and conditions. Besides, Do Currys give you free 5 year guarantee? It is also free delivery and installation.

http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/450219/SONY-KDL32V4000 - Comet Link, Only 1 year warranty and 3 year warranty costs £95 extra.

With M&S you get 5 year free guarantee.

Word of advise - Please use a credit card to purchase any product if possible as you get some insurance/cover etc if the firm goes under. I'm not saying that Currys, Comet, M&S and Richer are going under but in the new year anything could happen.

Just ordered one of these. Was going to go to Richer Sounds in the morning, but with this being virtually the same price when you add the 5 year warranty ( which we wanted, and you can't get without paying an arm and a leg at comet and currys). Also this avoids the possibility of the long wait in a queue at Richer Sounds only to be dissapointed cos the guy in front just got the last one or something like that. Estimated delivery date says 12th January, which is ok as we aren't too bothered waiting a couple of weeks, plus if another, better offer comes along we might be able to cancel this one and jump ship:)
Just a quick question to anyone who has also ordered this-------- How do you get the FREENDAY code to work? There is no option to select delivery method, it just gives me standard delivery and there is no where to even select any other form of delicery. Just having another look on the site now, and the estimated date has now changed to 8th. It does say they will conact us to arrange delivery when the item is ready. I don't get it.... doh! - anyone know?
Thanks:)

I couldn't get the code working either but not really bothered. If you had gone with Quidco or Topcashback then you would've saved over £15 aswell.

currys were doing the 32" LG tv for £350
Also disons were doing the samsung 32" for £270 todays special offer, do check out from uk hot deals the samsung

Yes- used quidco. It wasn't worth getting M&S to pricematch for the couple of quid or whatever it turned out to be difference after the 5 year warranty is applied (that's after the VAT comes off at the M&S till). Total for M&S ends up £338.53 delivered, so someone should please edit the title of the thread. Plus quidco will give you 16 quid odd. as well.

I hope I've ended up with a good TV. All the reviews are good, so here's hoping. I was trying to get that toshiba 32cv505db from empire direct but the code wouldn't go through and I emailed them and still have no response. That one would have worked out at around 320 delivered if I remember rightly, with 5 year warranty. plus delivery. Dunno which is the better TV, but the sony has more good reviews that I've found anyway.
Then there was that 1080p LG 7000 32" with lots of bells and whistles for 350, but in the end people were saying that picture quality wasn't grea. I might have been able to bluetooth my phone to it or stick in a usb stick, but if the ersult was poor viewing then I'd rather do without.
The samsung was one that I looked at too, it seemed to have decent quality but it's getting old now and the price should be a lot lower I think.

Amazon seem to have stopped the 3 year guarantee when they dropped the price back down to £329, there's no mention of it on the page any more.

Hi, I was going to do the exact same thing as you and go to Richer Sounds at London Bridge in the morning! BUT have ordered this one instead. If theres a better offer you can cancel this right up until despatch date. Mine is expected on 12th Jan as well. It says they will call you to arrange a delivery date anyway so you can nominate then.
Think this is a better offer than Richer Sounds as 5 year warranty at RS would be £30 plus did anyone else notice M&S deliver AND install which is great for non-techies like me as they will connect up your Sky box, set up all settings etc.
#28
Yes that was also a bonus for us, cos we were thinking abuot the TV not fitting in the car as well. Plus it means I get to stay in my pyjamas all boxing day lol:) I will also be keeping an eye out just in case another offer even cheaper comes along, or a better TV or something cos you can cancel this at any time, it seems like the best option all round, unless you absultely HAVE to have it today that is.

I disagree. Normal wear and tear would be a valid exclusion. You're not going to cover the remote control because a user has worn the logo off one button after 3 years because they like to channel hop up and down.

Normal wear and tear would also apply to the cosmetic condition of the unit. They're not going to cover you because you accidentally whacked the casing with your hoover or because Junior decided that whacking the screen everyday with a plastic duck was fun.

is it really worth waiting till februaryish to get a LCD tv?
#31

Cheers for the heads up there.

I'm in no rush to get an LCD as my old TV is still working fine.

Think I'll wait a few months now I've read that.

just ordered, voted hot!!
#33
Seems a hot deal, where is everybody getting their stand from? £100 on M&S!!!!
#34
i,ve just paid £332.49 from play.com with 3 year warranty and 5% off for RAC member code
#35
Hot, just ordered mine. Great deal with a 5 Year Guarantee. Lets hope Quidco tracks ok.

:santa:
#36
Picked one up from RS this morning, in and out within 10 minutes. Looks like a super tv.
#37
I think if M&S are doing 5% quidco with 5 year warranty then that offers good value.

If Richer Sounds have it in stock its free to pick up. Question is will it fit in a car. I wouldnt want to wait in queues today. Sounds like this model is going cheap everywhere. Richer Sounds wont be raising their price soon.

I think Currys warranty is quite expensive for 5 years. (its where they make their money).

Certainly worth checking stand prices in Richer Sounds. One plus on Richer sounds is the hold the highest sales per sq metre year on year out. I think this company is a solid company and it seems to dictate the market it operates in in terms of price. Price leader.

i dont see it going under.

if these models do break down in 2-3 years time they will offer you £150-£200 and tell you to get something else.
#38
Voted hot, just ordered for £338.53 and quidco (maybe). Would trust M&S to survive more than Currys or Comet, but who can tell in these times
#39
Just got one from RS with 5 year warranty for £329.99, great deal IMO! But if you can't get one there (my local store had 25 and people were queuing before it opened!) then this is probably second best with warranty.

Just set it up, TV looks pretty good! SD quality isn't as good as my Pioneer or Panasonic 42" plasmas, but for a 32" LCD it looks fine. Very happy with it for this price.

How does this compare to the 32 LG7000?
