plus they have to be willing to honour it, i used to work at currys and if theyre making a loss/ making hardly anything on it then its up to the manager but they probably wont bother! worth a try though... pick your salesman wisely ;)

I actually got one this morning! They tried everything to get out of it, they claimed that they couldnt get through to richer sounds so they cant do the deal but i give them a ring infront of him and they answer, i gave him the phone and he didnt have anything to say so he had to do the deal!

Do RS has to have stock?

This was posted earlier today... Currys will only price match if the store has stock 'readily available'... As long as your Richer Sounds haven't sold out - you have a good chance (though mine sold out by 1pm today and are not expected to get anymore in)!
#7
how do you claim the extra on top then? print out a page of richersounds or something?

They do yes. Sorry forgot the mention this, though apparently they have quite a few in my local store!

Currys promise is to beat any price and give you an extra 10% of the difference off the beaten price, currys just ring 'Richer Sounds' and confirm the deal is correct and that they have available stock.

Is this full HD as RS site tends to say HD ready but Currys says Full HD?

even if they are out of stock RS should respond by saying they have it in stock as it hits their competitor in the pocket, not by much but still hurts their profit

Yes your right, HAD a few. I rang them at 9.30 to check stock (they dont open till 10 but i still got through) then i actually made the purchase at currys at around 10.30, again they still had 'plenty' then too.

Same as my store (Birmingham), but by 1pm they were ALL gone :(

Good to know people do get them to honour their price promises.... it's very easy for shops to have these price promises knowing that almost no one will bother to check or bother to claim.... so when it's a big difference what a result!

I get fed up with the big stores spouting on about price matches, best service available, delivery anytime when convenient and all that... and always failing to deliver.

I've never liked all the big stores personally, even their customer service is terrible.
If anyone is going for this deal then go in and first ask if they have any in stock, dont mention that you want to price match it just make sure they have them first and agree to make the sale then mention you want to price match it because then they cant get out of it, they will try everything so do your homework tonight!

I once had a Currys sales rep say to me that they don't offer the +10% difference price beat, but can price-match only. I even pointed out the big banner they had plastered all over the stores that they price-match + offer 10% of the difference.

I got fed up and walked out without the washing machine. Currys should be sued for false advertising! Total headache!

gonna try in the morning.. has anyone tried this and been completely refused?

i know if i go wanting to come back with a tv i shall pay what ever so i hope this dus work!

Yes, you really need to do your homework. I even printed out the richer sounds page, AA map page confirming that they are 29.8 miles apart from postcode to postcode, the currys page and the currys 'promise'!

They aren't going to sue themselves; you need to start the process.

Are you asking for advise? If so i wouldnt count on this deal, i seemed to have timed it well and had planned it out right. It seemed that alot of luck was involved, but try it mate; ring RS at 9.30 (it seems thats when they start to answer the phone) and ask if they have any in stock if not the other TV. Like i say i only got mine set up tonight but i cant fault it, seems brilliant!

Im regional sales manager for currys, i find it quite disgusting what is going on here. Reading these comments leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I will be ensuring that no stock of this TV goes out tomorrow, I will ringfence all the stock so it cannot be sold, will also inform my peers to do the same, this should secure 65% of the UK to ensure these price matches do not take effect.

This type of trickery is both snakey and dishonest, I will not support it.

Difference between this and the JL deal is the Freeview HD, Internet Streaming, and 5 years warranty with. I have gone for the JL deal :).

If you are what you say you are then your comment means your company will be in breach of their advertised trading methods. What people are doing is taking you up on your word, they are looking to buy, you have to price match if ALL your advertised criteria are met, otherwise several calls to watchdog will ensue from disgruntled customers. That is of course if you are who you say you are, TROLL ALERT!!!!

Are you fricken serious mate? Instead, why don't you ring up head office or whoever and stop Currys from advertising they "Price Promise" when in fact you clearly hate doing so. It's not like anyone's screwing Currys over, people are just taking Currys up on their so called "Price Promise." God, I really hope everyone get this TV for this price now.

Can only assume this is a wind up, but in case you have taken leave of your senses.... As a mere regional manager one would suspect neither you or your peers have the ability to make Curry's policy only follow and implement it. Likely to be the Chief Exec and the board, who call the shots, a few pay grades above you I'm guessing.

If a company wants to adopt a price promise policy then they should honour it, nothing untoward happening here if people are taking Curry's up on something they have introduced. The alternative would be to sell the products at a competitive price in the first place!

Personally, and more on the point I wanted to post, I always have a booklet to hand when getting a price match, just to remind the sales person of the obligation their company has made. If done politely and with good humour you should find the staff are happy to match it. Get stroppy and they are less likely to do you a favour. I've always found most Currys/ Dixons staff more than happy to oblige, though I don't often have to deal with Regional Sales Managers!!!
