This deal is at M&S. It's on the site at £999 but with £200 off at checkout. I know you can get it for £699 less 10% at comet, but you then have to add £265 for the 5 year warranty. Same sort of things on other sites. If you don't want the warranty then not as good a deal.

Looks a like an excellent set and gets excellent reviews on Amazon (where it is £919) and on other review sites.

Why would you not by it from comet? anyone who takes a warranty out on a TV now must be mad unless its a £3000 set, with the prices of LCD's dropping like they are its not worth it. In 5years it will be worthless, I bought a 32inch Panasonic 6years ago and paid £200 for the warranty i Paid £1500 for the set as this was when very few people had LCD's because of the price the warranty ran out a year ago and the TV is still fine, you would be much better off putting the money you have saved not buying the warranty towards a new set.

Hi I brought this TV about 3 weeks ago for £629 which came with a free 5 year Sony guarantee. I had decided this was the TV i wanted and set to work to find it cheaper than the £799 price i had seen. I found that RGB direct in Ilford did it for £629......but they don't deliver so you do have to pick it up......luckily for me i was going that way for something else. Whilst on the hunt to find it cheaper I did found it in an electrical shop on the Soho road in Birmingham (sorry don''t know the name of shop but it is on a corner) that did it for £649 with the free 5 year Sony guarantee.

It depends on where you buy it from and what the warranty actually covers and what the difference in price is without it.

If you get one from Costco for example you get a 5 year warranty .. if the set packs up, you get a full refund. This happened to my father in law. Bought a Samsung set and it died after 2 years, they didn't want to repair it so gave a full refund and he bought another set (better than original) and has another 5 years cover on that. Same for my mates PS3, YLOD after 3 years and he received a full refund (over £300).

I'd rather have that then lose all the money after the initial 12-month warranty ends if you were unfortunate enough to have it fail and have to stump up for another one, even if prices have dropped :)

Good to see what a happy bunch you are.

Fair enough - I will continue to watch what people want to put up and benefit from it - but can see why so many don't.
