Title says it all - this is the deal of the day on the M&S wbsite and is for today only.

Original price is £799 but there is an extra £200 off today and the VAT reduction takes it down a further £17.

Quidco is also 5% just now for M&S so that should be an extra £29 which would bring down the actual price to £553 - not too bad for a 40" Bravia.

[Forgot to add that this also comes with the 5 year M&S guarantee which is also better than most other shops]

I'd say that this is a pretty good deal. The £799 M & S quote is way off the mark - it's been available for around £600 for a while now (£589.99 at Amazon), but a potential £553 with a 5 year warranty is excellent.

srappage cash back as well, think a friend bought one of these for a similar price plus scrappage from John Lewis price matched against richer sounds and a 5 year warranty.

According to the dealer list on Sony's site, M & S aren't in the scrappage deal. If someone could confirm that they are and how to get this with this deal that would be fantastic.

I have three grown up kids with their own houses or flats and technology shy parents who look to me to search out the deals. They aren't all for me:thumbsup:

Nice deal but noticed this a couple of days back from AV Forums:

"Richer Sounds doing the KDL40S5500 for £549.95. Got JL to price match and then used the sony scrappage scheme with an old portable from the atic. Result, new Sony 40" telly for £449.95 with 5 year warranty and free delivery."

So in essence if you price matched Richer Sounds price with John Lewis and have an old TV lying about to trade in then you can have the TV and 5 Year Warranty for about a hundred quid less ....:whistling:

Here is the TV on the John Lewis site:

John Lewis can be a bit hit and miss on price match, but it's in stock at my local Richer Sounds so I've e-mailed them to see if they will price match. I'll post again when I get an answer.

I don't think you'll get it price matched as it's a one day special. By the time they get back to you they'll be closed and the special will be back to it's normal price.
