Same prize on Amazon, too.

Thank you! I've been looking for the 40" version but it's been out of stock everywhere - was expecting to pay £500 for it, so to get a version that's 6" bigger is a wonderful surprise! Have some heat.

The only problem is the 1 year warranty..

expect to see lots of these deals in the coming weeks as the new line up from the big manufacturers will start appearing in March. There is a article about it on hdtvtest.com or whatever the url is.

A warning: as far as I know Play only offer a 28 warranty on electricals (as they do not fall under UK legislation). Your contract is ultimately with the retailer not the manufacturer (despite the manufacturer offering a limited warranty) - so this is something to keep in mind when considering alternative deals (such as the Amazon one). I am of course happy to be corrected!

COLD: Same price Amazon - as Play is not an EU company (based in Jersey) Amazon has the much better deal.

Bought a Harmony 525 a few years back from play 13 months later the LCD stopped working for some reason, Logitech kindly told me to jump for warranty so I tired my luck with Play and the replaced it!! I am pretty sure it was a one off, I got lucky, but Play have been nothing but great with me.

pabulous - the better 100hz 40'' version is still available but is £100 more - http://www.prcdirect.co.uk/televisions/led-televisions/40-inch-led-televisions/kdl40nx703u/product

and if a one year warranty worries people, read this article - http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/bargains-and-rip-offs/article.html?in_article_id=487304&in_page_id=5

I've bought from Play.com for many years now and have also always found them to be very good if there was a problem.

I've had to return three items in my time dealing with Play, one was because I'd not read the description properly so was my own fault but Play still changed the item for me, another item was a camera where the lens got stuck after a few months of use and they replaced that without any problem too, the final item was a mobile phone which kept switching itself off for no reason and play also replaced that without a problem too.

I've had items lost in the post and Play have sent me a replacement without any arguements after I'd waited the 28 days (I think it's 28 days?, can't remember without going to check).

All in all I think Play.com are one of the better sites on the net.

1) Ive used play for many years now, they are spot-on and fault less.
2) Amazon 499 price is sold out now
3) If you want one for cheap than you gonna have to go with play.

Just ordered mine, I'm a big fan of Samsung but at this price I'll give Sony a go.

The 40 " is selling at tescos for £470, been like that since December.

Not online it isn't, and my local Tesco Direct is notoriously crappy. Besides, £30 more for 6 more inches is too good to pass up!

Great offer! Bought the same model in 40" for around the same price last year!
#23
Anyone who has one of these confirm if they notice any problems with it only being 50Hz? How does something like tennis or football look in HD?
#24
I got 40 inch for 399.99 from play as when i ordered it appeared online as in stock and so for inconvenience of not getting my 40 inch i got a 46inch
#25
Omg so tempted maybe by month end i could afford it hopefully it wont get more expensive as price seem alot more else where.

Forget freeview HD, warraty and wifi is the TV excellent picture quality? Thats all what matters to me!

The pictures on the internet don't do it justice, so good I've ordered another one for my mum and dad!

Coincidently my 2007 LCD has 100hz, a feature that hardly ever gets used because in most circumstances, it's complete crap 8)

I've marked the deal as expired now.

Glad some folk found the post useful.

After deciding in the middle of last week that we needed a TV in the front room (only have a projector at present), I spent the rest of the week looking for a good set and price.

I was going to leave this offer until today, but yesterday evening I thought I may as well place the order because I can cancel it if I find a more suitable set whilst out and about today.
Thank God I did!
Just gone online and seen that the price has increased.

Thanks OP - I've found it very useful indeed!
#35
Has anyone actually got one at £499? I ordered on Saturday but it's still showing as 'order placed' and nothing gone from my bank :-(
#36
Fingers crossed that it they honour the orders placed before the price increase.
There is feedback on the item that indicates that people have paid £499 for it.

It's now changed to "awaiting stock". Funny how it's still "in stock" at £999 though....
#38
Just checked now and it is showing in stock at £729.

My account is now showing as 'Order Placed'
"Your order is awaiting processing. Once completed your order will be dispatched usually within 24 hours."

I hope this means that I'm getting it soon.

My second one came yesterday smashed to bits,

Ouch! Sadly, I'm returning mine - but not for the same reason. It seems to have some sort of fault where loads of squares appear across the screen. It's more evident in light scenes, but it's still an annoyance. I think it's hindering the picture quality as well, because it doesn't look nearly as crystal clear as it did the first few days I had it.

Are all TVs this cumbersome? Because this the fourth one I've had problems with, if you can believe that.
