however, if we'd bought it from john lewis we'd have had a 5 year guarantee instead of the 12 months offered by the local sony shop!
also portable dvd player failed after 1 year and 2 days and was cheaper to replace than repair.
so my advice is - if you want to buy sony - buy from john lewis.

The john lewis is 5 years warranty. If you want to save £4 rather than have 5 years, be my guest.
And bertt, you would avoid all sony products just because some of their bluray players lack this chip? I bet you have watched a sony pictures or Colombia pictures film recently or listened to a sony music song and buy bluray discs where part of it goes to sony for royalties.
Bought this recently and have to agree, very nice looking tele, looks expensive, great picture, but the sound quality lets it down slightly, settings can be changed but still not perfect. Great EPG though and built in wifi is handy. I would have bought the 24" in white personally because its full HD but was OOS. :(

Given the disposable nature of a tv nowadays, I'd take my chances!

local Sony Centres offer 5 year guarantees on all TV's..
i used to work in one, only if you got refurb or ex display might that possibly change...
some of the TV's are a pile of crap, but if you have a bit more money to spend this is not a bad thing particularly for a kitchen, the WiFi is certainly a nice enough feature, this TV can also be had in whtie BTW
its perfectly fine and a well made piece of gear, which is more than can be said for some of the other stuff
you cant expect sound to be good from a skinny Little LED backlit set, no room for decent speakers, and this is the same up into the LED 50" sets.. im sure it would be adequate though

Not voting either way as dont know the specifics regarding build quality of this model. Bravia's can be top of the range but all too often some models are murder and certain batches seem to just break after little time. Sony, while still very good, just aren't the excellent manufacturers they were even as recently as 5 years ago.

Good price for this, but thinking the LG more meets my needs at present
