Looks a good deal for one of the latest, largest and prettiest, Bravia TV's. The only downside I've read to this model is the poorish viewing angles, compared to plasma. But that's a common trait with all LCD/LED TV.

Had another look, and there's definitely a degree of 'confusion' on the JL website regarding these Sony bundles and the VAT back promotion. This deal seems the most beneficially confused!

There is a suggestion on the link that the price should be £1799, but I've added it to the basket and gone to checkout and it's definitely £1619 before VAT promotion.

Agreed, I think it's a misprice. It's a beautiful tv, very tempted at this price.

Hello where does it says free 3 d glasses?

They're part of the Blu-Ray accessory pack. In the product description, read the second paragraph under the 1080p heading.

FYI - The Sony RRP for this set is £1999, excluding any 3D accessory pack or 5 year warranty.

can you claim VAT back for everything on that offer?
#6
The 3D accessory pack would show up as free on the invoice, so no, you wouldn't be able to claim the vat back.

Quick update - I purchased online from JL, including the free 3D BR package. Printing out the VAT receipt from the JL website, there are VAT costs for both the TV AND the 3D pack, bringing the potential VATback offer to £315.45. Which makes the final cost £1303.55

"Only claim forms accompanied by original printed receipts will be accepted"

The word original suggests to me they will only accept the receipt delivered with the tv? Has anyone received their tv yet? What does it say on the delivered receipt?
#9
Im guessing this offer is over, no sign of it on John Lewis site?

JL online purchases made with a credit/debit card generate an email receipt and an online account receipt. I logged into my JL online account details and clicked on the 'Print VAT receipt', which produced an A4 size, JL-letter headed receipt with a breakdown of VAT on both tv and BR player.

Usually, one would only receive a VAT receipt with the actual delivery when they pay over the phone.

I'm posting the online receipt today, together with the Sony claim form. Will let you know what transpires.....

Yes - no more free 3D Blu-Ray bundles. The TV itself is still at 1619 though.

Hi Guys.
Looking to buy this TV. anyone got any positive/negative feedback . IS it worth a buy ?
#13
Overall I think it's an excellent buy. Picture quality is excellent, especially with an HD or Blu-ray source, with really nice black levels and motion for sports and films. Slight criticisms would be a small amount of lag for fast paced games, relatively poor viewing angles and the sound is ok but not great.

I love the networking and integration with the ps3 such as bravia sync. The 3d performance is also impressive although as with the majority of 3d sets at the moment issues such as dimming due to the glasses and eye strain after a while will limit how often you use it. I'd regard it as a bonus on top of the standard picture.

Right - the VAT back has been credited back to my account. I got £241.12, which is VAT against the 46NX713, but not the 3D Blu-Ray accessory pack.

So the final purchase price of KDL-46NX713 tv, Sony BDPS470 3D BR player, 1 x 3D transmitter, 2 x 3D shutter glasses and 5 x 3D films is £1377.88. :)
