I know this is now an older model but it has very high ratings and reviews across the board and is a MASSIVE saving on RRP and closest price for the same product (Around £800 I found next cheapest)

Saw many deals for the smaller size V and W series pre-world cup but most are now out of stock and discontiued, so this deal seems great for people looking at this kind of size and quality without paying the prices for newer models (£1000-ish)

I just bought this TV as it fitted my needs for a new living room TV hopefully it helps other HDUK members too!! :)

is the screen matt or reflective
it ticks all the boxes
but i want a matt screen and cant find anywhere saying what it has

If you mean the outter of the screen itself then its reflective/shiny I'm affraid, I have an old 32v2000 and it's a beautiful Matt Black witha hint of this silver sparkle stuff in it, then a silver strip below, love it! :)

This 46w5500 still looks very nice in the flesh though..

is this a misprice?
#6
i mean the panel not the surround

e.g. anti reflective coating = matt
you can see your self in the tv screen = shiny

Gets hot review from CNET

"What we think: Sensational picture quality and multimedia-friendly features make it great value for money"

That was when it was £1,150

Still pricey elsewhere

Good price for high spec sony

Good price but SONY LCD Tv's are Famous for have backlight Clouding problems, which ive seen myself and its very bad and noticeable. Extract from an Amazon customer review and i agree 'The backlight for this set is so uneven I can't believe a set ships like this, let alone a W-series from Sony. The backlight seems to feed from the corners at varying levels of brightness which, when watching dark scenes in a dark room appear as though torches are being shone from the corners'.

Watch for an e-mail from play my cc company
turned my order down
without phoning me to check if i ordered it

and just had a 20 min shouting match with mumbai to get the block on my card removed

To put this into context you quoted the only person to give a bad review 2**. Nine other people gave this model 5*****.

The Trusted Review above says this model does not suffer from any major backlighting problem.

This looks a great price for a 100hz 46 inch Sony W series

Would you be able to describe your experience with the clouding issues? Where did you see the uneven patches of lighting?

It's a mixture of both, has a slight gloss tint but handles glare from the sun really good and doesn't atract dust, it's certainyl not glossy like Samsung TV's.... I hate that.... trust me ...you'll like it, we have the 52" W5810 (almost identical but with freesat) and it's an excelent TV.

Precisely, which is why I asked as I am not sure if GQ Man's comments were based on seeing an unfavourable review and willy nilly posting a generalised comment. I don't know why people do this, if this is indeed the reason for the rather incongruent post (GQ Man, did you really make it all up regarding your personal experience?) I'll pass judgement once I receive a reply as he may have had the same fault as the reviewer reporting the clouding issues.
