Excellent price for a decent sized Sony telly!

That is a rather good telly for not a lot of money.
However a LOT of people complain of the same power fault.

Does anyone know what the warranty is like on these ?

Do they visit your home to repair, or do they swap out ??

Thanks

Ideal for a Bedroom TV, except this is one you are going to have to get out of bed to turn off & on if you hope to watch breakfast TV the next morning!

Sony.... never fails to disappoint :-(

I'm looking for one this size, pity there doesn't seem to be any Freeview HD tellys at this size coming along soon, so this would be a good deal, power bugs excepted. Buying anything bigger without Freeview HD is probably a bad move, although the Freeview HD ones are still a bit overpriced imo.

I purchased a bravia w5550 one month ago never had a power problem, unless you mean the motion detector that switches the TV off if there is no movement during a period of 120 minutes

I bought one of these for our bedroom having owned an excellent W series bravia downstairs. Power problems aside (although I can confirm them) the EPG on this unit is infuriating! There is no timer / reminder capability and searching for info on progs is also unbelievably slow. Flipping between channels on the remote +/- button is jerky and vague. The picture can be highly pixellated on some freeview progs too. However DVD picture - even using a cheap upscaling player - is usual good Sony standard...

No, that's not just the specific problem... have a look at some of the Amazon reviews.. as confirmed on a post here by mattg10, it's a power thing. If it's switched off remotely & put to standby & left for hours (such as overnight!) then it needs switching off at the mains again manually & back on before you can start it up again! Not very handy anyway, but particularly annoying for Bedroom use.

I wouldn't what to buy a TV with a known fault, would you even if there was a fix?
#18
I had this TV - But it had a fault - So I returned it.
IMO the older Sony 26" T3000 I also have gives a better picture.

Looks good thanks.

I bought this model of tv recently before checking it out online(stupid me!)
I like the look of the tv and the picture but this problem with the tv being on standby and not going on the next day is annoying and when I contacted Sony they said to switch off the system update which I have done and this has cured the problem. I am still in a dilema whether to keep the tv or not
My question is does anyone know what consequence it has having the system update switched off?
What exactly is the purpose of the feature and if Sony say to turn it off then why is it there in the 1st place?!
