I thought the Sony KDL32V4000 is a better model and worth £369 price tag at Richer Sounds.

Much better, the L4000 is basically the V4000 minus a hdmi port and different design.

The l4000 is actually much worse, it isnt even a bravia screen, the image quality is quite nasty on the l4000 :s :x

- I would imagine that if you are sat under 3' (1 meter away) then they would be pretty good.

......but that's about the only circumstance when so-called 'full HD' (1080p) in a little 32" panel is going to mean a thing to anyone.

I know some people like to kid themselves (and it's true there is a little margin for difference seeing as we all have different eyes and different degrees of visual accuracy - which is, usually, not such good news for those of us the wrong side of 40) and some simply don't wish to hear it but this is the truth, re screen sizes and resolution.
Your biology & the physics do not lie.

My bad, I was thinking of the 40L4000 which comes with the BE2, 33000:1 contrast ratio and is 1080p ( exactly the same as a the 40v4000)

Your right the 32" isn't a match for the V series, although it would probably be better then this model which is over a year old.
