Selling @ £449, but the "Price Promise" will bring it down to £394.

This will only apply if theres a Comet nearby (in most cases there is).

Comet are selling this TV for £399.

This is instore only and its better if you reserve online first for both retailers as this "Price Promise" will only apply if the other retailer (Comet) have it instore ready for delivery or collection.

I don't see how you are working it out to be £359?

£450-£400 =£50.
110% price match = £55 discount.

£450-£55=£395 not £359?!

10% the difference not the price (£399) which I thought.

10% of £50 is £5 and the price is £399.

making total £394.

apologies everybody :(

Rather than going through all this hassle, just buy it from comet:L

if you're lucky enough to have a sony store near you which is participating in a the offer, you can get it for £399 with free express delivery and a free 5yr warranty
#6
no guarantee that they will honour the price promise, so I would personally get it elsewhere for £399

I agree. If JL is within £50 its worth paying the extra for a large item like this.

If anyone of you don't need a 5 year warranty and is more price , then comet offers it for 399, with cashback from quidco or topcashback. Plus if you want, you can go for COMET SMS vouchers and that will give you additional 10% discount

Bought John Lewis one last night - 5 year Guarentee sold it for me - this usually costs a lot of money, Am slightly put off at the 50hz though - can you really tell a difference to 100hz?

I wanted this TV and have £210 in Currys vouchers from a laptop that broke, I didnt want to pay the £449 price in store so I asked for a price match, the man popped next door to Currys to see they had stock, came back and asked the manager who said they were not price matching currys. Apparently someone in Currys sent round an email on 26th Dec saying they should not price match on this TV, I wasnt having that so asked to call head office. They sorted it out and said that as their price promise states they will match a price then they must match it, I hope whoever sent the email on 26th Dec gets a telling off! I therefore paid £394 for the TV!

All this messing took an hour, I was not bothered about the £5 saving, i just wanted to get rid of my currys vouchers, in my opinion if you value your time at more than £5 an hour then just go to Comet/John lewis, etc!

isnt this coming under the sony free 5 year guarantee ?

100hz isnt worth the extra £150+ imo, people are making a lot of noise about 100hz and while it may offer an increase in quality, so will a lot of other factors, as well as brands. I went and had a look in JL and after looking around quite a bit and comparing this against others, I went for this, the price including USB, freeview Hd and internet TV really makes it a no brainer for me. Just check the reviews on Amazon if your not too sure.

Not sure, I think some people got this to work with the Amazon deal - there was a post anyway, can you explain more about it?
#20
I went into currys for a price match also they refused so i went with john lewis, so currys lost out on a sale once again not nice people in currys store.
#21

100Hz is a mode you turn on to reduce motion blur but it just makes the movement so unnatural. It's a load of marketing crap

Don't worry about it. If you have a Comet or JL within 30 miles of your Currys with the TV in stock, go back in with your receipt and without the TV and ask for the difference. Maybe take a print out of this : http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/Price-Promise-1023-theme.html

Oh, you went to JL and compared!

That encouraging as i purchased online. You have just made up my mind. £150 extra is not worth it.

Thanks

Terrible deal. Went in the other day to get them to price match me a Samsung LE40C530 and had a bunch of trouble. I watched one of the members of staff ring up comet to be told they had 63 still in stock. He then proceeded to tell the guy who was serving me who said everything was OK and would go and put it through the till for me. After a while he came back and told me that he'd just rang comet again and been told there were none in stock (I don't think he realized I heard his colleague tell him there were 63) and that he'd only be able to price match the television with Sainsbury's for £400 (instead of £379). A heated argument followed in which he promised me several times that the local comet had none in stock and then refused to speak with them when I rung them up in front of him to confirm that there were in fact 63 still in stock, He also refused to price match with Richer Sounds despite the fact that they had 2 stores within 30 miles with the same model in stock. In the end I decided it would be easier to just drive up the road to Comet and get my television from there.

I will NEVER again be shopping with PC World or Currys and am in the middle of drafting a letter to their head office regarding my experience.

For the sake of £5 I would recommend just picking up the TV from comet as I did.

I have dealt with there head office before with a complaint and they always side with the sales man. The john lewis deal was the better deal but i did tell people that while i was walking around currys in kingway Derby the other day.

Just to let everyone know this is BACK IN STOCK at John Lewis now, so 399 with 5 year guarantee!
#35
CS is terrible in pcworld/currys... you'd think in the current climate they would be doing everything to gain market share. I am with everyone else recommending JL... its a no brainer to get the 5yr guarantee and better CS included. Bought mine other day from JL http://www.johnlewis.com/230925667/Product.aspx

Seems JL have put their price up to £449.00 :(

been umming and arring over the JL deal all morning, pressed add to basket and the price jumped up to 449, so after throwing a hissy fit i rang up my local branch (nottingham) and the lovelly lady (jenny) told me i could still have it for 399, being delivered to store on the 31st, happy days

Stupid grey bit ruins it.

You're not alone with that thought - I would have bought one from JL, but the stupid two-tone bezel is a dealbreaker for me. It might seem a trivial point, but for some reason I find the bottom grey strip *really* intrusive and distracting (probably because it "breaks up" the continuity of the actual panel border). I spent ages looking at the model in stores, and I'm pretty sure I would never come to terms with it.

It's a crying shame, as it's otherwise a fantastic TV and stonking value at this price point. Arty-farty stylists, don't you just love 'em.

My m8 next door has a sony bravia with the same grey bezel but after a few seconds i didnt take any noticed and just focused on the picture.

I must be in the minority. I actually like the grey section breaking up the obligatory gloss black offering.
Also it doesn't show cleaning swirls anywhere near as much.
Different folks and all that.

the Gray part of the TV does make it look ugly
