got this for £350 including the accidental dmg on black friday. Great TV with awesome quality, especially on the HD channels, gaming console or connected to PC. The controls can be a little clunky, compared to my old TV anyway, but other than that 9/10!

Just before the summer holidays I would assume - now that CES is almost out of the day and new TVs have been announced there.

I would suggest spending a little and getting the W8 series

I have this and it's a good TV but not great. As above try and stretch to the W series if you can

The KDL48W585BBU was selling quite cheap a few days back - its 48" inch though but close to 50 and still a decent TV I think.

I have ghosting issues with mine, have spoken to sony who talked me through a few things, the last of which was to update to the latest software version, however still experiencing ghosting which can be pretty bad at times, especially when viewing HD channels from my sky box...

Besides smart is there a huge difference between this and the KDL42W7 which is £429 at JL?

I haven't seen this model up close, but the low-end Sony models I've seen from recent years have really been built down to a price - very disappointing in things like colour reproduction and picture quality, and not what you'd expect from the Sony of old. The W7xx and W8xx models are, as others have said, fantastic TVs and well worth the money. The W6xx range is also one I'm not familiar with, but as Sony have put the "W" in its model number indicating it's one of their premium models, it's probably worth the extra £22 (OK, so no 5 year warranty at that price) for the KDL40W605B (at £322.22 on http://www.theelectrohut.com).

A friend of mine who is a bit deaf bought this TV a couple of months ago for £319 and he's very happy with it. He wanted a TV with good clear sound so he went for the Sony and he can hear it just fine. The picture looks good to me. Voted hot.

I got the ps3 Tesco deal a while back for around £350 with discount codes. The picture and sound quality is awesome, definitely recommend. I bought it initially as it was a good deal and I was in the market for a TV capable of producing high picture quality for Sky Sports HD, the picture quality for live sport is superb.

Any info or reviews on the input lag? Tried looking and can't find anything online. How noticeable of a difference does it make in reality?

Any info on gaming in general on this TV would be great

dumb question time. i just bought a blaupunkt 40" tv recently, but have sent it back because the picture quality was terrible, so am thinking of buying this instead.

now, would the bad picture on the blaupunkt be caused because i am using a humax PVR and scart lead, ie old technology? Is picture quality better with HDMI? Or is the blaupunkt just rubbish, and the picture quality will be better with the sony?

We've got this TV and the 32" version. 1080p Netflix looks absolutely stunning on it! Highly recommended

Scart is terrible with LED TVs (and LCD). Worth getting a YouView with HDMI from the Bay or similar. Outputs over HDMI

Agreed, just so everyone is aware.. The controls are TINY! with small little buttons, so not so great for those who have trouble

thanks. i'm replacing a 32" sony that's led (or lcd) and that is fine with the scart.

anyway, what does outputs over HDMI mean?
