1080p TV + TV Stand/Home Cinema Combi + 5Year guarantee

A (very) quick look on Google suggests that the TV is worth about £850, The TV Stand is about £500, and a 5Year guarantee is about £300 = £1650

Television: Sonys Bravia KDL40V3000 arrives in a piano black finish, featuring Bravia Engine plus a host of other picture processing, to ensure the images brought to the screen are absolutely stunning.

Home Cinema System: The Sony RHTG800B combines a TV stand with your entire home cinema. This means no separate satellite speakers, no subwoofer- no clutter. Just a 350W 5.1 surround sound experience in a strikingly handsome package.

The RHT G800 has all the speakers in one place - it's a simulated 5.1 "surround sound" rather than a traditional setup - better off combining the onkyo/ KEF bargains with the tv on it's own if you want it to sound as good as it should.

for people like me that have wives who hate speakers and all the wires, this looks like a good way to sneak it in the house...

True enough but it won't sound as good - just worth knowing if you are considering a purchase. An alternative could be ceiling speakers - again not as good as floor or wall mounted but wife friendly enough.

Spending money on anything TV & Hi-Fi is not wife friendly in my experience.
For some reason they can justify £50 on a top though :-/

I bought the stand just before Christmas and think it looks and sounds stunning especially from Blu-ray dvds.

I just don't believe, that sth like this stand will be better than normal 6.1 system with separate av amplifier, hdmi/optical connection to the tv/bluray drive.

example

1.Onkyo AV Receiver TXSR605-399gbp
2.Philips 42PFL7662-799gb
3.ps3 40gb  -300gb
4.Sony SSP88 6+1 speakers-140gb

total-approx 1640:)
If you'd change the ps3 to hdplayer-total is 1440gbp
If you'd change the ps3 to hdplayer and receiver to TXSR505, you'd pay ca. 1300gbp....:w00t:

way better deal in my opinion, hence coooold.:whistling:

Maybe not sound better but still sound brilliantly and no clutter of wires all around the room. I live in a small flat and for me it's and ideal setup.

Separates are always the best option - the question is, however, can this particular combination of goods be bought cheaper anywhere else? If so, where and how much?

This set-up can be bought for £1159.99 from Robert Whyte Ltd also with a 5 Year Warranty so the John Lewis deal isn't such a 'hot' one at all!!

I think it's a good space saving option, granted not as good a separates but for an integrated stand with built in speakers it's not a bad option.
