Went into Sony Centre Leeds where I saw this deal for what has been described as the best LCD on the market.
Top reviews all over the place and one magazine named it TV of the year.

Cheapest I have seen it. The next best price i think is £849 from richer sounds

If kosher, sounds a very good deal indeed...
#2
sounds good anyone else found it for this price at their local sony
#3
I got this TV from Richer Sounds next door to the Leeds Sony center last week lol - Sony Center couldn't touch them on this last week or the 40w4000 I was after before.
What's the 5 year cost from Sony ????
#4
Sorry should have said the warranty is free.
#5
How do these compare to 37" - 42" Panasonic Plasmas?
#6
Good price for a great TV.

Not very well for SD. As good if slightly less 'Natural' for HD.

i just called my local sony centre (croydon) they selling these for £1199, then i asked him would he price match against Leeds store for the price, answer NO!

really good price that..
#9
Is it definitely available at this price?

when i went in the other day it was. I haven't been back since
#11
Sony centres are privately owned franchises , so deals in one store won't necessarily apply in another.
I've seen huge variations in what they charge for the same kit.

£800 for this tv is very good if you are near enough to take advantage
#12
I just rang Leeds and they said it is £999 with a 5yr warranty.
#13
I think the OP means the 40W4000 not the 4500. Nobody would sell that tv at £799, even in a sale.

they are at around £870 now, why dont you they will drop another £70?
i think they will
#16
Balls, i just got one of these last month for 840 :-( lol

Edit: I see now that it might be a mistake i got the 40w4500 for £840

so wether or not he means 40w4000?
#17
Nope, they're offering the same in my local (Kingston-Upon-Thames) on the 40W4500 if you mention that it was seen in another store. They price match other Sony Centre's as long as you speak to the manager .
#18
Great tv I have it, however anyone that has wall mounted there one and looking to sell the stand for it please pm me.
#19
Not on at my local store. I checked on Sunday. Voted cold.
#20
Is everyone forgetting the Xmas "bonus" we're all getting from Mr Darling??..... the big (Wow) 2.5% VAT reduction from next Monday. Makes no huge difference to everyday small purchases. After all for every £100 you spend you are "saving" £.2.50... but will be offset by price hikes like they are going to do with fuel (the increase in fuel duty). This gimmick will not get me and the majority of the UK public spending like crazy from monday up until the next 13 months. Anyway back to the issue in hand.... this TV should in effect be approx. £20-£25 cheaper from next week. Also I've been keeping an eye for this model and there is NO way that this exact model is up for £799 (unless it's an Ex-display model). Like someone else mentioned, they probably got mixed up with the 40W4000 which is not 100Hz
#21
Be warned... a lot of these models are being reported with pretty severe smearing on dark colours right now (apparently a bad batch, check avforums) I have a V4000 which suffers from the same thing and it's very, very annoying.

Indeed, or:
40W4500 is £999 inc 5 year Warranty
40W4500 is £1199 inc 5 year Warranty + 80GB PS3

I bet they were starting to wonder why so many people were ringing them up

With no disrespect meant to the OP, I think everyone needs to stop worrying about whether this deal is accurate or in any way bears resemblance to an available product in the real world. You are all blatently failing to appreciate the nature of this site - post a deal, get the heat, then sit back and contemplate whether belief in a deal is sufficient to prove its existence. :-D
#29
This is a dud chain and there is no £799 offer. If there is, i would LOVE to be proven wrong.

so if enough people believe this deal is real all the sony centres will reduce their prices, good luck with that!

Reality is just a construct of the mind. Shame my imagination is so plainly lacking... :-(

I think you are very much mistaken. Within 24 hours of your prophecy its already within £10 within your 'nobody would sell' price
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/283970/sony-kdl40w4500/

Should easily be attainable in the immediate future.
#34
In my local these were £849 with just 1 Year warrenty. I went in for the v4000 but when i saw the tv's side by side the extra £150 might just be worth it. lucky i didn't buy it now will pop down and mention this, they probs offer me 5 year warrenty for £849 mind.

when i was in my local sony centre the other day i was told that these sets will go up about a 1/3 in January.. (probs balls trying me to buy one now mind)

that price not including 5 year warranty though. another 185 takes it to nearly a grand
#36
I do believe this is a viable followup:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/283970/sony-kdl40w4500/

Maybe it is getting close to that £799 point, its the warrenty I think people think it should cost more.

Id wait until Black Friday and the VAT cut have passed, this is going to drop in price in the next couple of weeks.
#37
So it's definatley not the w4500 then? I got so excited as well.

There is a thread on avforums about the price rises. With sources as well.
