As a proud owner, the telly is great, works well with my blu-ray player (ps3) and media servers from my PC. I bought it for £599 (the best offer this model ever had). But since then, I have not seen anything below £699. So, unless you are looking for the next-gen LEDs or built-in Freesat models, GO FOR IT.

Cracking TV this, my mate has just bought the same one :)

I've got one too. Picked it up when they were £400 at Asda in October.

Do have some backlight problems in the top right hand corner though. Only noticable in dark scenes but does bug me. May give Sony a call although they may say take back to Asda (who have no stock left)

Cracking TV other than that

Im sure this is the one I saw in Sainsburys for £599 today

Edit "think it was 37ins"

I bought this spec in 37" from Sainsburys for £585 and am delighted. Ideally wanted a freesat one but the prices never came down enough. Would recommend.

For the absolute same price but 5 yr guarantee, which TV is the better one to go for?

No contest, the Sony every-time. Look for reviews of both online.

I've read reviews, but most reviews say that the sony has very high input lag which affects games.

Is this just picky people having their picky way (eg can I fire up a game and just enjoy it, without noticing significant delay)?

Thanks

Really? Only problems I know of with these Sony's is the clouding issue, which also effects a lot of other LCD's, the Sharp included.

Why not consider a 42inch Phillips for your needs? My bro has one hooked up to his PS3 and in fact, he did lots of research (not just paper specs, but actually comparing the quality of HD picture side by side with other models).

I've played the PS3 and I must say I'm very pleased with the quality of the picture and there is no motion lag at all. I've also played a PS3 on a Samsung 42inch and immediately I noticed some motion lag and picture doesn't seem as sharp as the Phillips one.

My bro's model is the 42inch Phillips 5 series which you could get one for about £600. I'm not sure how this would fair for normal SD TV usage as the TV is bought mainly for gaming purposes (HD pictures).

If you have an extra bit of cash, you could go for the 7 series model instead

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers :)
