This has dropped £100 in the last week. I noticed this TV through another Richer Sounds deal some weeks back and have been watching the price of these tv's. There are not many left over the country, in true form, but if you can get hold of one then good luck. I nearly bought one of these when they first came out but were £1200+ and were not receving glowing reviews. Here is a link for the review.

Conclusion - Nov'2008
The deep blacks, accurate colours and low input lag on Sony’s latest high-end (W series and above) LCD HDTVs need no further praise, so we’re left to comment on the Sony KDL40Z4500’s 200Hz Motionflow implementation.

The good news? There are surprisingly few kinks for what effectively is the first incarnation of 200Hz MCFI technology. Now the not-so-good news: any resultant improvement in motion clarity isn’t really leaps and bounds ahead of what 100Hz LCD televisions currently offer when it comes to real-life viewing.

So while the Sony KDL40Z4500 holds the current record for the highest motion resolution we have measured on an LCD TV so far, pound-for-pound we think that the Sony KDL40W4500 (equipped with 100Hz Motionflow) represents better value-for-money.

This TV is an antique. Consider instead the Samsung LE40C530. Review here http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsung-le32c530-le40c530-20100813815.htm . Also a Which? 'Best Buy'. £357 delivered from Amazon.

not bad deal I think. The quality of the picture i'd say is better than the samsung le40c530 with the bravia engine. wish I waited getting my samsung a686 now last summer for 399!

This Sony doubtless deserved it's 'Highly Recommended' award in 2008. LCD technology has come a long way since then.

My Samsung LE32R87BDX was 'Recommended' in 2007, however, by comparison with my Samsung LE40C580 it's a 'steaming pile of poo'.

This Sony has the Bravia 2 Engine... cutting edge technology?

Picture quality depends on panel, processor & software. I would be amazed if the much more recent LE40C530' panel, processor & software didn't give give it the edge in terms of picture quality.
