Isnt this a better deal, even though it is 6 inches less?

Compare like for like mate - the above has no 100hz or LED backlighting or 5 year warranty or teh same size screen.

What does the 703 give you over the 503??

Very nice price considering Comet sells the same model and size for £1499. However personally I'm not convinced by LED Edgelighting (its not full LED back lighting used in Samsung etc), so the edges of the screen are actually brighter than in the middle which I noticed in all the shops I've seen it in. :(

I was in a Sony shop today talking to an assistant (nice Indian lad). Told him I was getting confused with all the new Sony TVs available. After a chat I asked him which was best for a wired broadband connection so I could surf the internet.

Interestingly he said around Christmas / sometime next year (not so far away now) that Sony would be selling sets with the Google TV platform built in.

Anyone interested should Google "Sony Google TV" to follow what is being proposed.

Its normall indian's who work in electronics stores, look in currys, one would think they walked thourgh a portal in to a shop in bomby lol.. however the currys ones are far from nice if asked to price match anything. you dont get many of them in the curry business its always numbers or electronics

I just thought the assistant was a pleasant, smartly dressed, intelligent and very helpful young man.

Please don't let this detract from my main point that Sony have new sets incorporating "Google TV" in the pipeline, and which should be in the shops around Christmas or early next year.

For my part I'm still looking for a replacement for my old Sony 24" CRT - still working but reaching the end of its life. At present I'm keeping my eyes open and reading reviews, so when I upgrade will hopefully pick another TV that will last a long time.

I bought the KDL40EX703U from john lewis a month ago, as they price matched a comet deal, but gave me the 5 year warranty too.

We have been very impressed with ours, I can't say I've noticed the edge looking brighter than the centre, but we chose Sony over the Samsung and Sharp models as the colours look much more natural and not artificially bright.

Indian Currys are better than British ones.
