Great price for an amazing tele...

Should I buy this or the w8?

Thought about the x9 but I think I'm better off getting a top 1080p set and buying into 4k a lot further on.

Also any suggestions would be great I want to upgrade from my oldish LCD set.

Very, very tempted at this price. Just need to work out if 46" is going to be to big or whether 42" will do. As it will be replacing my trusty 32" CRT 3 ton Toshiba I'm sure it will look amazing.

go for the bigger one, you won't regret it, it doesn't take long to get used to it and tbh you will think you could of gone bigger again lol

bought this tv 2 weeks ago from JL for £899 just rang JL and they are going to refund £100... excellent service ! before buying i compared like for like, same source with lots of other tvs including 4k, it appeared the best picture to me ,and i am really pleased with it,it is well worth the extra, only drawback has been screening movies from my pc after 2 hours on the phone to sony got it sorted but boy was it a complicated hassle !

Annoyingly I'm 3 days over the 28 day price match period so they're doing absolutely nothing for me. Only bought it because it was on offer down to £899 and instore and online they said the "offer" would expire the following weekend at which point the price was going back up to £1000+ but they would'nt even consider store credit or anything.

It is a great TV though and a steal fo £799!!!

Just bought one the demo shown were amazing and far superior to the other tvs.

Obviously 4k sets were even better and the oled lg set but without 4k content why bother, better to buy a 4k set in a few years.

Also why isn't this deal hotter thanks op.

We bought at £899 last week and called this evening to get our refund - no probelm, helpline is open until midnight :-)

They had 2 on the Sony refurbished site last week for £620, managed to get one. Picture is stunning, best non 4k telly I have ever seen.

If in doubt buy it, you will not regret it.

John Lewis price matched this for me last month with richer sounds for £799. Absolutely love this TV.

HD picture is brilliant. Watched world cup with no noticeable motion blur with motion on 'clear' which is the most subtle setting IMHO. 3D is beautiful and I'm not particularly a fan of 3D. Catch up apps work great and have a lovely interface and even though I only get about 4mbps broadband speed have never had problems with streaming.

It swivels a bit which is handy and the viewing angles are good for where we sit (about 30 degrees from flat on).

This is a bargain price for a high end tv that maybe last years model, but is actually much better (going by all the reviews) than this years equivalent and much more expensive model.

And John Lewis delivered it up 3 flights of stairs to my flat which most companies won't.

I've had this TV since Nov last year, Sony replaced my previous flagship model for this one under the 5 year warranty. The previous model lasted exactly a year before the screen went. This TV is by far a superior model, quality is fantastic. It's a case of you don't know what you're missing until you've seen this TV!

Great price considering I played over £1k for the previous model!

Better off going for the 50W829 at £799 with free soundbar or bluray player. Better TV personally, 2014 model, so it's better to keep up to date with new technology. Better panel, better X-RP chip and as I said better overall tv.

no, the w905 murders the w829 in picture quality. View the tv's.

In all honesty the HX905 top trumps them both.

But down to personal preference.

Great price

Not a fantastic price IMO. Richer Sounds were selling it at this price for a few months until they cleared their stock back in April.

It's a hot deal in the sense that this is the cheapest it can be bought right now, but it is also a cold deal as it is the dearest price right now... as nowhere else sells it!! (Apart from PRC Direct and ebay, but they don't count :-) )

905 has a triluminous display, the W8 does not. Colour reproduction is better on the W9,no question.

FWIW I own the W829.

Thought it looked a lot better than the w8 2014 which was also on display the w8 is still a nice TV just yeah when they're the same price go for the w9 2013.

I'm still deciding what TV to get and this TV looks great.

Would this match Samsung UE48H6700? which one is better?

Bought this TV few months ago for an insane price match from John Lewis.
Brilliant colours & black levels.
Just be warned I did had a fault where the colours went completely negative / false colour on some sources (Like Freeview, iPlayer & SCART, but not Freeview HD or HDMI).
John Lewis did replace it with a brand new one, just took a few weeks. Happy with the new one at the moment.
Don't know what they would do if it breaks again as they are now running out / clearing the stock.
