Since RGBDIRECT have a physical presence, you can get John Lewis to price match this as well, if you like.

Just a single bog-standard remote.

Good price. Just saying that some of the W8's are 815 (John Lewis) and not 829.
I think the 815 is 600MHz motion flow and the 829 is 800.

I think the 815 is 600MHz motion flow and the 829 is 800.

This is incorrect. W829 and W815 are the same TV. W829 is the black colour model whereas W815 is the silver colour mode. Both have the same specifications.

P.S - From JL website: "Please note: models W829 and W815 are the same TV in black and silver respectively."

That may be true, but not from what I've googled..... "sony kdl50w815 600"
Some foreign sites advertising it at 600MHz.
https://www.avforums.com/threads/sony-kdl50w829-vs-kdl50w815.1882106/

I'd like to know for definite. Not quite believing what John Lewis site states.

Here you go my friend, from Sony's website:

http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/w800b-series/specifications

It shows 800Hz for both W829 and W815. :)

Ha! Nice one. I take it that the stand difference is just the colour?

I've decided to get this TV over the 8505 due to the lack of 4K content and the W8's low lag.
I hate the reflective screens, as I've still got a matt Sony, but I know I've got no choice...

I'm sure this was being offered with the Sony HT-CT60BT soundbar free yesterday, along with other places (argos and john lewis etc), but promotion finished yesterday (24th)

I'm not sure whether to get this tv, or spending a little bit more to get 4k one listed here KD49X8505

Read lots of reviews. I want fast update for gaming, I think the 8505 is about 42ms, which is still quite good. I've read there can be an issue with black levels.
I'm waiting for more 4K content and possible better TVs. Until then , it's the W8 for me..

I'm pretty sure this doesn't come with freesat

i wouldnt touch them with a bargepole, had a sharp tv fail within 2.5 months, the 'supervisor' advised they do not have to adhere to the sale of goods act.

shockingly bad, good deal mind but i would advise to stay away from RGB unless you dont mind the stress when something goes wrong

Do any other Main Street companies do price match

You don't need to speak with the retailer though? Your TV would have been covered under warranty. Should have just spoken to Sharp directly.

Never 'eard of 'em.

Shame the soundbar offer finished yesterday, it was a much better deal.

if an electronic item fails within 6 months then it was deemed to be faulty at the time of sale - from the sale of goods act. i should have had a refund or a new tv

i've got the same dilemma! £700 doesn't do it for me though. Would rather have got it for £739 with the sound bar. Might wait till Jan to see if prices drop further.

I bought this for £30 extra with a bluray player (had the option between that or a sound bar). Great TV!

The free soundbar was far better than this 'deal ..... which was common throughout December.

The free soundbar was far better than this 'deal ..... which was common throughout December.

It's no longer available though. So unless you've developed a time machine which we can use to go back in time, this seems to be the best deal out there for now. :)

Nice tv. Has satellite built in and freeview. Wouldn't deal with this company though. Had same problem with them with regards Hornetsam's comment however wrote them a very stern letter stating the sales of goods act and trading standards took tv back and refunded within 48 hours. But please do avoid the company its not much dearer to buy on amazon. Shame the sound bar deal has finished and don't get city link to deliver it lol. Comes with its own wall bracket which is converted from the stand only thing you need to buy are the bolts to hold it in place

"Since RGBDIRECT have a physical presence, you can get John Lewis to price match this as well, if you like."

does this work?

I've tried asking JL for a RGB price match before and they said this:

"Unfortunately, RGB Direct only has showrooms. The Never Knowingly Undersold does not accept showrooms as a store, this is because the public are not able to go into store and pick the item up from the shelf, pay for it and take it away that day. This means it is not on the like for like basis.

In order to match a price request, the competitor must trade on the same basis as us, for example we will not match online only retailers, mail order only or show-rooms attached to internet-only orders.

Therefore, on this occasion I regret that I cannot match the price offered by RGB Direct. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website."

I've had them price match RGB Direct before. Looking through my emails from a few weeks ago, I found this:

"Dear Mr Javaid,

Thank you for your price match request for the Sony Bravia KDL50W8 LED HD 1080p 3D Smart TV, 50" with Freeview.

I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £779.00 for the Sony Bravia KDL50W8 LED HD 1080p 3D Smart TV, 50" with Freeview seen at RGB Direct. To place this order with us please visit our website. A maximum of 10 Sony Bravia KDL50W8 LED HD 1080p 3D Smart TV, 50" with Freeview can be ordered and you will be charged full price initially. "

So they price matched it for me a few weeks ago (had them price match RGB Direct twice in the past), so don't see why they rejected yours. I reckon should follow up with an email and state that others have had this retailer price-matched before and why they've rejected yours. I'll be willing to give you the reference number for them to locate my price-match, should they need this. :)

Should try send price match request again in the hope another rep is more reasonable/kinder

Would much prefer buying from JL too

It comes with freesat,

it comes with everything!

It comes with a satellite tuner. It does NOT have Freesat EPG.

ie. all the discovered satellite channels won't be organised in any particular order, there will be duplicate channels, such as all of regional BBC channels etc.

I have this TV so hope I can make this clearer for anyone who is interested in buying this.

This TV does not come with "Freesat". The TV has a generic satellite input which allows you to watch channels via a satellite signal (we have an old Sky dish plugged into ours). So it will probably have all the channels that Freesat has, but will not have any Freesat branding. It picks up the free to air HD channels, but don't think it has channel 5HD.

Hope this helps.
