All BRAVIA televisions are HD Ready as a minimum, with up to 4 HDMI connections, and come with an integrated digital tuner so there is no need for a set-top box to view Freeview TV and radio channels.

The BRAVIA 37W5710U has all the Sony technology you need to experience a new level of entertainment. BRAVIA ENGINE 3 digital processing delivers a depth, richness and clarity that will take your breath away. Motionflow 100Hz technology keeps fast-moving sports and action crisp and clear.

#4
This the same as the deal posted yesterday for a different shop?...
...I was wondering who'd ride on this one

But you can still order, so I presume they are expecting some.

Still, I'd rather go for the recent LG 37" deal, stunning TV (my brother has one) with the added benefit of DivX and MKV playback via USB -

Good price and great TV! With the nearly 15% drop in our local monkey currency over the last three months, probably a good idea to hurry purchasing high tech stuff of that nature before prices increase ...

That is a good deal - rep added. I think I will stick with the Sony though. Watch a lot of sport so teh 100Hz will probably make a difference for me. Would like to play with DLNA also (need to get ethernet to my living room though).

Gonna stay with my Argos order. For £20 difference I think it is worth it always had good experiences with Argos customer services and generally not great with Play -that's bricks and mortar versus internet only I suppose.

How does play.com cover you on electrical warranties? I remember something about it not being same as UK law on electrical. hmmm.
#10
this is what i thought, much easier to return to a shop rather than someone over a phone in jersey who doesn't have a clue and doesn't give a s**t! plus there's some quidco available on this (works out around 7quid) so not too bad, plus mines getting delivered tomorrow!
#11
This looks good... What do you think my chances are of convincing the wife that I can have one... ????
#12
dont like sony any more all their stuff always develops a fault and is overpriced
#13
Not that I'm being greedy but I was after a PS3 too so I was wondering whether the two Play.com codes quoted underneath the original post works with anything or just the cameras?

Just a thought as I'm after a LCD TV and a PS3
#14
do u think this beats the 37" samsung lcd that was posted @ £449.99 (5yr warranty from M&S)????
#15
Great price.
#16
Does anyone know the size of the TV base?
#17
Has anyone bought something the size of a TV from play before, just concerned that they don't seem to be able to package smaller items correctly to go through the post let alone a 37" TV!
#18
I know Play squeeze everything into a jiffy bag regardless of size, but even they couldn't find one big enough for a TV - or could they?
#19
Jersey consumer law was revised last September giving similar protection to the UK.

saying that I still wouldn't buy anything expensive from Play , their returns policy is lacking as is the packaging on a lot of items.

I had 2 bare hard drives sent out in thin jiffy bags , needless to say they didn't survive the trip - the girl on customer services said ' oh, we get a lot of those returned ' :whistling:

Just tried and "it doesn't work with these items"

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Argos model and this one?

as this has a U code at the end of the model, is it likely to be a grey import?

Totally agree, stick to bargain basement stuff now due to bad experiences with so called premium products!! Saved a fortune & just as good despite what others may say IMHO

Hm.. now that's interesting. I was about to order a LE37B550 for 430, but it doesn't have 100Hz unlike this one.

Very interesting.... *stroked imaginary beard*

Will be loads of special offers on Sony TV's

As the new range has just been launched which looks awesome.

So haggle a little harder and you might get an even bigger saving.

I have the same Quandry...

someone on another thread said the DLNA wasnt upto much on this TV and that gaming on these sonys is poor due to lag.
Ive also read reviews saying 100hz often hinders the general performance.

I know sod all about these things so i cant tell you if thats fact or not.

Ive got a sony blu-ray player but ive ordered a Samsung LE40b550 to be delivered next week from JL with 5yr warranty for £550 not sure quite what to do.

I have a software video player here somewhere that supports the same thing as 100hz, ill try to find the name of it. In any case it makes video very smooth and its a huge difference but the problem is that big budget films also tend to look like a telly soap opera with it turned on since it also sort of emulates the natural smoothing you get with cheaper video recording methods. Its certainly an aquired choice depending on how its implemented.
The ffdshow decoder with media player classic has a frame doubler that should do the same thing but its never worked for me on any of my pc builds.

fantastic buy, fantastic set. probably one of the best LCDs on the market, only reason why its this price as its been replaced by the KDL37EX503, only real difference is the new one has freeview HD

Called them this morning. They said they'd sent me a letter confirming that they were happy to pricematch the Argos deal. I cancelled my Samsung40" order with them and rebooked the same delivery slot with the 37" sony.

I have to say this is my first dealing with John Lewis and although not delivered yet i can honestly say their customer service has been outstanding.

Its so much nicer to speak to articulate people with initiative who genuinely appear to want to help.

To this point i am delighted with this transaction.

With this great deal I know I should not replace my 32 in Bravia for this but it is very very tempting
It is a shame (or a good thing) my credit card is maxed out
Grates find this is gone get HOTTTTTTTTTTTT

If you want washed out colours then get the Sony LCD. However, I'd definitely recommend going for a Panasonic plasma - I had always bought them until I saw a review here that said Sony LCDs were much better (by a Sony employee maybe?). It is to my everlasting regret that I bought a 'top of the range' Sony LCD and I suffered it for 2 weeks before giving it to my daughter for her bedroom and reinstated a Panny. I have to say that the Sony still looks great (until you turn it on) and my wife and daughter seem to like it but I thought that the picture was (and still is) very poor.
