Nice price for Mp3/usb and indeed Sony.
#2
issue is, would this connect to your incar steering wheel controls?
#3
I've always found Sony car stereos have excellent equaliser settings. Nice post!
#4
It has Steering Wheel Control capability, however whether you can find an adapter to fit your car is the real question.

typically you have to buy additional converter/adapter to connect wheel controls

Be warned - with these Sony units the USB playback isn't great. I've got the previous years model, and it doesn't do gapless (so mix albums don't play correctly at all), and it mixes the tracks up - they never go from track 1!

I've banged my head with Sony support and they're hopeless. Avoid if USB playback is what you want, otherwise a nice bit of kit for the cash.

Great deal, installed the bluetooth version in my wife's car. Works as a car kit for the iPhone and also plays MP3s through Bluetooth.

Anyone know of any more deals for the bluetooth version?

There is an option to purchase from Amazon under 'more buying choices' but the price has also increased by £3 unfortunately from this listed deal, thanks again.

This seems to be a common issue with many cheap USB in car units (maybe the expensive ones as well, but I've never had one to try)

My current JVC plays tracks in a folder sorted by file creation date/time - so can involve a lot of fiddling if you want to play tracks in the right order.

Before that I had an Aiwa (after Sony had bought the name) , that played tracks in alphabetical order, so wasn't too tricky to make sure each track file name started with the track number.

You won't get gapless MP3 playback on many ( if any at all) car head units.
Gapless MP3 playback is difficult to achieve and requires reading ahead of playing.

As for track playback that will depend on filename ( if your file names start with the track number they should play in order ) My 5 yr old Sony plays them off MP3 CD in correct sequence. Remember its not a stand-alone MP3 player so its not sorting from the ID3 tags.

Yup it's pretty rubbish with USB Playback. I have this model but with the blue lights.

It is VERY fussy about picking up MP3s on USB. Sometimes it will handle hundreds on one USB stick. Other times it will refuse to recognise that same memory stick! It seems to work best if you only have a few albums on the stick with no other files (Sony did get back to me once and sent a complicated list of limitations involving total number of files on a disk)

On top of that the design is awful to use whilst driving. Other than the volume knob it is terrible to try and navigate between tracks on the fascia without looking straight at it.

Back to those lights.. this may only apply to the version I have with the blue LEDs. But for some bizarre reason Sony felt the need to install super bright LEDs.
My second day of ownership I had to cut out small pieces of black pvc tape to try and cover up the large blue buttons as they honestly lit up the cab and caught my eye the whole time whilst driving in the dark.

I cannot wait to replace it!

I got this very same unit from this seller back in June this year. I have a car with a built in cd/radio, so I sourced an adapter cable and fitted it, it took a little bit of fiddling with the trim, but its been in my Nissan Almera Tino and has worked in a really satisfying way. Everything works as you would expect, but the best bit is the USB playback of mp3 tracks. I no longer bother with cds at all, the navigation of the usb device you insert is tremendous. I take the stick out of it when its parked up, but when I reinsert it it remembers where it was previously, and continues from that point.
I no longer have a car full of cds and thier cases, its worth it to have an empty glove box.
Its that good I'm going to get another for my other car!

Sony are aweful and slow especially when it's time with one hand off the wheel ! Spend the extra and buy an Alpine or Pioneer
