Just come back from the weekly shop at Tesco Twickenham (Mogden Lane) and while I was there I saw the Sony CDXTGT410 reduced to £57.97 (+ club card points).

Cheapest elsewhere that I have seen is £79.99 Argos clearance (If you find stock).

The CDX-GT410 car radio is the most advanced sound system that you can get for your car, as it comes with a 4 x 50 W amplifier, a 30-preset RDS-EON tuner and a Drive-S CD player compatible with MP3, WMA, Atrac and AAC formats. It has a USB port in the front and 2 auxiliary audio inputs, and it's supplied with a remote control for even more user friendliness. The CDX-GT410 car radio combines style, sound quality and a number of extension possibilities, so you can enjoy hours of non-stop music on all your journeys.

Hot, I've got a CDX-GT616u which is excellent, this shares many of the same features. Very good stereo at a very good price.

I agree.

Mine cost just under £80 from Amazon & it was well worth the money. I just need some decent speakers now  :giggle:

My wife sent me back as I forgot gravey grans. When I got there, they had put out more car radios.
A panasonic one for £50 and a Sony mex-bt2500 for £69, with built in bluetooth.

Might be good for someone.

I'm guessing it would be quite a job to get the steering wheel CD player controls on my Astra to work with this?
#9
My car has got one of those big built in dash things (factory fitted); shame, cos I'd love to get this.

can you plug in an mp3 player and play the songs through the stereo?

Yes. I have the 414 model, and never use cd's lol, just a memory stick, a tiny one mind, cos you'll knock it when you steer.
I have a dab/mp3 player, just a basic cheap one, and using a 1.5m 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable i can play the dab player thru the (front) aux port and it works fine
Great system and price, shame it's tesco so cannot vote hot sorry :)
Only thing to bear in mind, the control for your mp3 player would be the mp3 player, ie, you cannot use the car's up/down track etc, you'd have to manually select on your mp3 player

Guys try this site http://www.connects2.com

I have a 206 with steering wheel controls to get them working again and with the in-built dash display I got a control box from these guys (from eBay) and it works a treat I have the Sony BTX-5000 Bluetooth stereo so I'm guessing the box of tricks would be the same for the OP's find being the same brand...Hope this helps...

Jay - Can't see why it wouldn't as long as your old stereo is a single-DIN (Standard size) player then this should fit right in, you may however need a converter box, these can be easily sourced from Halfords just look in the in-car audio section for Ford to Sony headunits (just ask as CS guy)

Hope this helps...

Yes, this one doesn't take the Sony remote commander interface which you need to be able to use steering controls. (Know this to my cost - got one in my fiesta and liked it so much got another one for my Scenic, only to find that the commander interface was missing. Then had to do a load of research to find a new one that DID have the remote commander bit:oops:)

If you have a car with an oversized factory fit stereo, then you'll have to get a fascia adapter. You may also need to get an iso adapter cable. All these things can be got from Halfords. However, I found Ebay to be the cheapest place when I got my new stereo for my 02 plate Mondeo. The fascia adapter I got has a nice little slot under the stereo for storing loose change etc. The fascia, iso adaptor and Ford stereo removal tool cost me about £15 delivered I think. It's likely to be double that as Halfords.

If you want to use the steering contros then you can buy third party adapters as has been mentioned, but they seemed a bit too pricey to me, and I couldn't find a cheapo one.

Also if you are replacing a big factory fit stereo, you may be surprised at how much can be fetched for them on Ebay. I still havn't got 'round to selling mine yet, but they go for about £50-£60 which is what I paid for my far superior Sony stereo!

Adapter costs about £40. Just as easy to use excellent remote control.

I have an older Sony headunit (looks very simular but mine lacks the USB and only has 1 front aux input) I bought off a mate after my JVC decided to start switching off it's ouputs when it got warm. (he was selling his car, so he let me have his :thumbsup)

very happy with it.

Good price

Wait a second, I can't find it on their website! Or, how do I know if they will have it in a certain store?

Thanks.

the "4 pin maneuver" worked for me, if u have 4 holes in the corners of ur stereo then u can buy some special pins they only cost 50p from a parts shop, stick it in and pull the whole thing out.

Done.

I had to pull out the front facia, unscrew the double din harness and the unscrew the radio.

My new Sony is in and sounds great. Got my Network walkman plugged into usb and my phone hooked up to the aux in.

How does it connect to your MP3, is through ear phone socket? reason I ask because I want to run my Creative Zen through this - every time you plug the Zen in via USB it goes into 'Docked' mode.

thanks

Hmmm. My radio recognises my Sony walkman NWZ 815 and plays as normal controlled via the radio, when plugged in the USB port.

My Archos works to but I have to set the archos to hard drive.

Haven't had a creative MP3 player so I can't really help but would still sound good through the fron AUX input. :)

Did i not kinda answer this in Post #12 if not, let me know. I don't have a zen but yes, i connect an MP3 player via headphone socket
#29
I have a creative zen, and it doesn't work through USB mode unless you have the mp3's you want to play in the "storage" part of the player. That means you won't be able to listen to those files through the mp3 player, but the stereo will be able to recognize and play them.

It's a great stereo, I have one hooked up to a 12" sub and amp and it all works like a dream. 100% worth it at this price, it was also 100% worth it at £80 when I bought mine too :)

Hmm, I called up the number for my local store to see if they had this but they said they don't stock "that sort of item". It's quite a big store so I'm not sure what the criteria is for finding a store that have these :(
#31
I think it's only there and probably a broken one or an ex-display?

No. Brand new, in box and working fine.

Like I said, Tesco Twickenham, at the end of the DVD isle at the back of the store.

Not available in my local Tesco, which surprises me because it's a huge Extra store. They don't stock any car stereos. Shame as I'm looking for a new one...

Anybody seen these in bolton or bury tescos?
