The feature-rich Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2000 Compact Digital Camera offers the easy route to fuss-free, first-class photography, at a price that won't break the bank.

Compact and ultra light in weight, this 10.1 mp camera boasts ease of use and has no trouble capturing anything from faraway fireworks and scenic landscapes to close-up people shots, owing to its 3x optical zoom lens, whilst SteadyShot image stabilisation helps combat camera shake to keep your picture luxuriously sharp and rich in detail.

Amongst its wealth of advanced technologies, you'll find Face Detection technology, Smile Shutter technology, an Easy Shooting Mode, plus an Intelligent Auto mode, the latter of which cleverly sets the camera settings for you - perfect for ‘point and shoot' operation.

When still photography doesn't satisfy, slip the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2000 into its video mode and capture those birthday parties, holidays and hilarious split-second feats in stunning 640 x 480 pixel video at a frame rate of 30fps. Thanks to running on convenient AA batteries, you'll have 190 shots and 95 minutes worth of video on your hands, so long as you're shooting under standard conditions. When the power is running low, a clever battery remaining indicator keeps you in the know!

2.5 lcd is poor.
Read a few of the reviews and they weren't great.
Ah, I'll stick with my Fuji 5mp 2.7" lcd for now.
I'm after a 12mp with 3" lcd.
My Samsung phone is a 12mp and the pics are incredible.

apparently you have access to a few good cameras and what you need is an upgrade to a mid range camera which i can imagine has much higher price tag!
but for me with an older 4mp camera this is a decent deal. I am a sony's product fan as their colour reproduction in the images are great.

Valid point.
My wife keeps telling me on any number of items "You don't NEED it - what you've got is perfectly good enough"
And whats worse is - she's right !
Sony's ARE good cameras. Their worst tends to be better than most makes anyway.

It's a shame this thing doesn't have rechargable battery and easy USB connection like Samsung cameras, but the image stabilisation on this seems a lot better than the digital versions most -£100 cameras from Samsung.

"When the power is running low, a clever battery remaining indicator keeps you in the know!"

Lol, is this 2010 or 1990? Hot deal though...

is it possible to encode video clips on a PC in the same file format as it's native video recordings and play them back (making this a sort of on the go media player) ?
#14
Almost bought this for my girlfriend but just as I was about to hit the confirm purchase button I decided to check out some reviews! Glad I did! http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/sony-dsc-s2000.cfm

Think I'll keep looking, both my Fuji and Panasonic seem a lot better than this!!

lol @ "stunning 640x480 pixel video". Very hot price though

Yes, thank you. The last piece of info might be very helpful for those people who simply can't decide, one way or another, whether, or not, to buy this camera.....

With AA battery cameras of this vintage you have to have rechargable batteries of a high power rating permanently charged to the max to even get it to turn on. From the reviews on expertreviews.co.uk it seems this one is no different so I'm going to avoid it.

Don't you normally tell people to spend a little bit more and get a Sony?

Reserved one for collection in store but found a Fuji FinePix J40 at a bargain price of 79.99£ in the same store, so I went for Fuji ( Highly recomended brand according to Gadget Show).

Plus clubcard points.

Bought it from Tesco instead. Cheaper and more incentive, hence voting this cold.

I actually bought this earlier this year when argos had it on special offer and must say that I am mighty pleased with it.
I wasnt too sure about it not having rechargeable battery but I can honestly say that with my old Fuji that had rechargeable battery I kept forgetting to recharge it so some of the time I missed taking photos because it wasnt charged.
This little camera is fantastic and in some ways is better by not having rechargeable battery as at least it can be used at any time and of course you can use rechargeables in it if you wished.
I cant fault it really

Stick to the deal please, no drifting off topic.

yes thats me in pic we use a canon compact camera £59 at argos
#35
Good price, have always found sony cameras pretty good.
#36
10 mp on a camera like this is a waste
u wont notice the difference if this was say half of that
#37
would love to know how this performs at night...

This is a great camera, but it eats batteries for fun so make sure you have spare. The screen is a little small at the rear and suffers (like others) in bright sunlight. Personally I perfer cameras that retain a traditional viewfinder, but these are not that common on cheaper units..... to keep them cheap I guess....

The same memory card is £8.99 delivered at mymemory.co.uk if anyone is interested:p
