Designed to be super-portable and take brilliant images, this high-quality compact also features clear on-screen icons to make picture-taking as simple and successful as possible. Very stylish, great at parties and powered by readily-available AA batteries.

The Sony CyberShot DSC-S930 represents fantastic value, having 3x optical zoom, 10 megapixel resolution, SteadyShot (image stabiliser) and Face Detection.

10.1 Million Effective Pixels
For excellent quality and detail, even when enlarging past A3 size.

Face Detection
Will recognise up to eight faces in a frame and adjust focus and exposure accordingly. Can also set priority to children's or adults' faces.

3x Optical Zoom
Covers the equivalent of a 36-108mm lens on a traditional 35mm camera. There is also the option of an extra 2x (6x total) Precision Digital Zoom which can be extended to 17x at VGA resolution.

SteadyShot
The DSC-S930 is equipped with an electronic SteadyShot image stabiliser which counteracts the effects of camera shake.

* High sensitivity ISO 3200 for clear images without flash in low light (allows faster shutter speeds to be set).
* 2.4-inch (112,000 pixel) LCD display
* Seven Scene Modes to choose the best setup
* In-Camera Retouch, including Red-Eye Correction
* Picture Motion Browser software supplied

Two main negatives:

1) Only takes 2 AA batteries. You would need to buy a set of rechargable batteries and a charger so extra expense.

Also with only 2 batteries they are going to run down quite quickly.

2) Only takes the Sony Memory Stick rather than industry standard cards like SD and so on.

wouldnt say its a bargain for the sake of it.

its an ok deal. If you're after a camera consider it.

Spot on!

OK price but there are much better deals (and cameras) out there. Look at Panasonic first.

I guess this is not bad.. Im looking to rather put a little bit extra in and get a Lumix. Does anyone have any suggestion where i can get a decent model for a decent price please?

I see No 1 as a positive.
AA batteries are widely available so cheap to replace e.g. Aldi/Lidl sell rechargeable AAs for about £2.50 for 4
Camera specific Li-ion batteries tend to be about £10 each and difficult to obtain after a few years.

Also, when all else fails in an emergency and the batteries are flat you can always pick up a couple of normal AA batteries at a local shop.

But decent capacity AA rechargeable batteries (e.g. 2000mAh or more) and you should find they'll last a long time before needing to be recharged.

The only negative for me is it's PINK!
Otherwise I'd probably have got one.
If you like pink, it's a good deal imho

Edit: the silver one appears to be an extra fiver :-(

Edit2: Pink one is also £79.00 now - deal expired.

Tesco have been doing the Panasonic Lumix FS4 (with 4x optical zoom) for as low as £69.97. Now discontinued on line but there are still a few out there in store stock. Tesco in Redditch were letting the last one go for just over £60 on Friday as it had been on display (but looked perfect). Argos were doing one model reduced below £100 (can't remember details but it's been posted on here). Staples still have a few of the FS3 at £79.99. If you are prepared to go to around £100 there are several models out there on the high street. These all have a proper Li-ion rechargeable battery and charger so they are much slimmer and will give an incredible number of shots per charge.

If you are prepared to go as far as £185 the TZ6 here is really terrific and very highly rated:

You won't be disappointed in a Panasonic.
