* Supports Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo

is the biggest problem (typical Sony trying to tie you to other Sony products).... otherwise looks good.

Tell me about it!

It is selling at almost the same price on other stores. Just did a google search for the model and came up with loads of price in the same range. The drop from 138 pounds is too far fetched.

Not voted cold though :-)

Recently brought a Lumix from Amazon and it appeared to be poorly constructed with poor image quality not normally associated with Lumix range. Only explanation I could think of was that it was not a geniune product or perhaps one bypassed quality control. You can't beat a purchase at a shop where you can handle and inspect before purchase.

That's exactly why you should never buy a Sony camera! That killer aside they're only mediocre cameras anyway.

Look up 'sweeping generalisation' in the urban dictionary and you might see this:

Loads of cameras just went half price this week. Canon as well.

Not bad but the competition is better.

Managed to pick one of these up at xmas for £50 using a woolworths voucher (shock horror!)
Very very good camera! :D

Here is another one you might see in there-Buying books or other items on the internet that are not likely to go wrong is OK but if you buy things hat might require a service or is likely to go wrong find out what your consumer rights are and who pays the postage if you need to send anything back before buying on the net.

A samsung was posted yesterday:

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/11566671/-/Product.html?sp=1&dpr=517371&P36=K8A3D7#

Samsung PL57 12.2 Megapixel / 5x Optical Zoom / 2.7" LCD / Digital Camera / Black at £79.99.

Any body have any idea which is the "better" deal?

I'd be interested in that comparison too.

Previously had a sony, so have lots of Memory Sticks around the house.

So personally I'd go with the Sony, though the Samsung does look pretty nice.

Their new range is also SD

Interesting - didn't know that. Olympus have moved that way too so I think the whole world will be SD compatible then. Bit like the VHS/Betamax/Philips video issue of 30 years ago.
