How reputable are eglobalcentral and where do they ship from? If it is outside the EU, you might need to factor in import duty... Just think, in a few years, there might be import duty from EU countries too! Can't wait...

I've never bought from this company before but I'm sure I've read recently that you pay a whack of import tax or something when it arrives...i.e. there's a reason they're so cheap.

It looks like a UK company but I think they're actually in Hong Kong...

Im glad i posted it in here then before purchasing one. Will do a bit more digging before i commit.

Cheers for the heads up and i hope the import duty aint an issue otherwise the price will be bumped up accordingly.

EGC is based in HK & openly state they cover / pre-pay any import duty, although mechanism not identified. The company is not liked on HUKD but pay directly by UK credit and section75 will provide credible UK-based protection via UK credit company who are legally obliged to assume obligations of the retailer (warranty, etc).

Just to be clear about section75 eligibility: there needs to be an unquestionable direct debtor-creditor-supplier arrangement, so a purchase via 3rd-party / intermediary processors (such as Paypal) may not qualify. Direct payment to vendor via credit card should be OK.

Do Sony UK honour any warranty on this or is it return to HK? I understand that Canon UK refuse to support grey imports!

Return to EGC via UK address or claim to UK credit provider if purchase was funded directly via UK credit.

I don't think I'd chance buying from them 1) https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3730384#forum-post-54441558 2) There website is registered at an address that obviously isn't where they are physically located.

I was intrigued to know exactly what this UK address is that they say they are using.

Doubt they would state one specific address if they have multiple brand / hardware-specific providers. They have quoted UK returns for quite a while and just change the appearance of the info page / date, archive example from Nov 2014: https://web.archive.org/web/20141127204137/https://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/return-your-goods-to-uk-now-en.html . The EU site has quoted UK returns from at least June 2014.

used this company directly and on eBay without issues and no import tax. My orders took about 5 days to a week to arrive
