Hi res picture of the camera:
http://campaign.odw.sony-europe.com/images/press/Cyber-shot_Hi-Res/W_Series/DSC-W200_STYLISED.jpg

IMO bigger camera with bigger ccd, lens and zoom for higher quality pictures @ 8mp or 10mp would be superior, but that's just me

It's not all about the pixels. Its the optical zoom and lens. Its better to buy a lower pixel but a better lens. You dont need 12 megapixels.

my friend has had 2 sony's and they have both been junk

my ixus blows it out of the water

id advise anyone looking for a camera to look at the ixus's in this price range

And in a few years people will be saying "don't bother with those 20MegaPixel camera's, 12-14 will do just fine"

That said my 10MP Optio A30 is a cracking little camera. Decent low light performer too.

I was kind of hoping that sensor technology would improve beyond cramming more megaxels on, but it seems that companies want marketable figures first.

I defy average joe to notice anything over 2-3.2 megapixels on a standard 6x4 anyway. And a good many below that too.

Pretty nice looking Cybie though.

I would imagine once figures start hitting 15mp+

Developing shops and camera makers will take advantage of constant shifting technology, not necessarily needed, to boast some super duper new 6x4 high res print which most won;t notice but will be great for marketing and PR

The new Panasonic FZ-18 8mp 18x zoom, 27x zoom on 3mp crop mode is what I'm waiting for :)

Great pixel count, rubbish optical zoom. 3x, so what?
Not £200 worth IMO.

Don't fall for the marketing con that is the megapixel people

Is the dumb consumer thats driving the magapixel race :whistling:
