This looks quite good, and i'm after a Digital Camera at the moment, anyone have one that can offer some hand on advice on the quality?
#2
Yea but why has it been put in travel? Do you not speak same language as I do?
banned#3
Dunno, maybe cameras mostly get used when travelling?

Deserves a bit more heat for this deal.

Some reviews here

http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equipment/reviews/compactcameras/1179/3/sony-cyber-shot-w270-review.html

The W290 is exclusive to some retailers the only difference being that it has a 3" screen as opposed to the W270 which is 2.7"

Moved to electricals as well!

I'd rather pay a little bit extra and get the far superior W350 @ Argos for £112.99, provided it's in stock in your area.

Regardless, this is a good idea. I have heated.

Id rather get this one, it has 5 x optical zoom and a 3" screen whereas the w350 has 4 x and 2.7". I like the colour better on this too. I know the the w350 has 14mp, but that means sod all

Forget it - it uses mega expensive Sony MemoryStick memory which is reason enough to avoid it. Even Sony have now started offering their latest cameras with 'universal' (and cheap) SD memory compatibility. The Sony marketing dept may be pushing the 12mp sensor but generally they are not a good idea in a compact (8mp is plenty). 5x optical zoom is perhaps its saving grace.

The Sony brand still seems to convince people that they are buying something special when most of them are pretty mediocre, run of the mill cameras. They charge a premium for the name.

I'd advise looking at the Panasonic range first. Excellent cameras with great lenses (mostly Leica branded) at pretty competitive prices.

You can buy a mem pro adaptor on ebay for about £2.50

I've owned loads of cameras and the Sony W series digicam range is right up there with the very best, particularly those with a Zeiss lens. Point about ' premium for the name' not only applies to Sony but Nikon and Canon, too - but these three brands are premium manufacturers.

Bought this instead of a Fuji F200exr I had on order which was £30 more for same settings. F200 may be a little better for lowlight, and have a better menu lay out, and do SD, but....
#12
reserved, thanks for your reviews guys

I have the Sony H20 cybershot which is a super camera-the lens is one of the best in a compact camera and 10mpix is plenty. This model is an improvement on the model I have with its burst mode larger screen etc I say buy I- feel certain you will not be sorry-heat added

I had the F200exr on order at the same Newcastle store, but will have to disappoint them with the Fuji. Can't get up to get it before I get the dell laser printer delivered (off these pages) and I haven't a clue when they're coming. They came yesterdau morning while I was still in bed. I just KNEW they wouldn't come at the same time when I was up and ready ! I'm off to work at 1 o'clock, I bet they come after that. Wife's out til 5, so another day without delivery. But this is what happens when you buy too much stuff off HotUK isn't it ?

They came 5 minutes after I typed this. Typical, eh ? Tempt the devil and all that.
Disappointed the laser printer doesn't seem to be able to print cd/dvd's. BITTERLY disappointed.
Then went up and got my Sony Cybershot with bags of time before work

Signed up just for this. Reserved one in a London store on Sunday, picked it up this afternoon. First off let me just say that i am a complete idiot for not having checked everything before i left the shop but there we go... The box was damaged, the Sony seal was broken so it had already been opened. The staff member then opened the box herself and checked everything was in there, went home and it turns out that they had left the wrist strap out of the box and that i don't have the battery charger! I dont know if its a good thing that the battery they gave was already 65% as it could mean that its been used before. There is a small chip on the front right edge of the camera which i noticed instantly. The Camera didnt come in english but thats not a big deal as the language can be changed in the settings which i just about managed. I've fired off an email to Jessops about it and hope to hear from them asap. They better be giving me a new camera/box and everything included. I am not travelling two hours to have this junk replaced again. I really hate Jessops. Clearly looks like ive been given a refurbished camera or one that was not meant to be sold in the UK.

Anyway i would seriously advise checking the box before leaving the shop. First time ive bought a gadget that i have to return straight away. Was really looking forward to the camera as i looked at it last year and was prepared to pay £200 for it. Bargain for that price. All in all great camera but Jessops **** up. Has really **** me off now. They better give me good news tomorrow morning.

Everything was tickety boo on mine. Everything sealed, the wrist strap already attached. Battery flat as a fart.
Forgot that Sony do those bloody mem sticks of course, then remembered, and thought "Ah what the hell" and bought an adaptor for my several sd micros. Bought a fast 8gb mem stick though anyways.
Seems good thus far on testing, although haven't found how to keep the effing flash OFF yet.

Hence my recommendation that people look at the Panasonic range - they too used to demand a premium but no longer. Superior cameras at competitive prices.

Great deal for a quality camera, don't forget that the lens is a Carl Zeiss which is top quality. Just purchased from Shrewsbury store with a further £10 discount for a lightly scratched screen display, bargin at £89. Heat & Respect added.

I've been talking to customer support for one week now and they cant get me a replacement camera and are now offering me other cameras. I ordered this one for a **** reason. The deals expired now, been taken down from the site so they better do something about it. Today she mentioned the 14 return policy, well they can **** right off if they think that they are pressure me into accepting another camera. If this goes on for another month then so be it.

Based on what you've said earlier the law is on your side. A word of advice though - be politely firm and you've more chance of getting what you want than sounding off at them (or is it too late?). The silver lining to your cloud is that you can get rid of this camera.
