Product Description
Sony's newest rechargeable battery technology seeks to bridge the gap between regular alkaline batteries and NiMH rechargeable batteries. Cycle Energy rechargeable batteries do not require initial charging and have a very low self discharge rate. They maintain 85 percent of their charge after one year and can be recharged up to 1,000 times. This new technology offers consumers the convenience of a ready-to-use rechargeable battery that is longer lasting and environmentally friendly.

I bought a few nearly six months ago in the Otley Sainsburys. But they didnt have this any other store around the Leeds and Bradford areas. Im not sure why such deals are so localised.
Great Deal if you can get it (especially 2 x AA plus the charger!)

If it's only the batteries you are after, you can get 4x AA from 7-day shop for £3.99 (less if you purchase more). They are very good (I use them myself).

This type of battery is a great step forward.
Great product, good price and rechargeable.
I cannot understand why people are so happy
to buy normal batteries just to throw away.
Great post.
Voted hot:-D

London Colney was the store doing this deal, it can't be localised to just this one though. They had at least 100 packs there last night. Little over £30 got me equivalent £100 worth of batteries. Using them all, already charged and put them in various devices around the home.

:whistling: if you followed the link you'd have found out they use exactly the same technology - so they are JUST AS GOOD!

Heat given, good price.

Just another heads up though, at Play.com you can get 12 x Uniross Hybrio (same low self discharge) AA rechargeables for £9.99 delivered withe the 3 for 2 promo they're doing for batteries. And if you have a £1 off voucher from that McDonalds Monopoly thing it's £8.99.

Not shabby if you want it delivered to you. Other sizes (AAA etc) you can mix and match too with the 3 for 2 offer

They're only 1600mah though, I have some Hybrio's that are 2100mah. 1600mha is pretty low, even for a low-discharge battery.

Hot, if you can find them.

There is no bridge to gap.

Now I'm wondering what mh the Sony Cycles are then?

Found it nvm, 2000mh. Cool, good price then :D

H&R added gonna look for these in my local

An excellent find, many thanks. I'll go on a hunt for them in my local Sainsburys and if not I'll get some from the 7 day shop.

Just back from Wigan, they had a couple of Sony charges with 2 x AAA batteries reduced to £4.99 but no packs of rechargeable batteries.

Yeah I should have said the chargers were £4.99 but the batteries were £3.09 and £3.06 respectively. I suspect that people will be buying 5 or more packs at a time so they won't be around long.

Sorry about saying the similar 7dayshop offer wasn't as good, I just assumed they were better because their sony and you get nectar points.

I must admit I haven't tried the 7 dayshop ones, but I would be very surprised if the sony aren't better quality than the 7dayshop version. The Sony cycleenergy are probably rebranded Sanyo Eneloops - I gather they used to say "based on eneloop technology " on the back in very small print. I opened a two year old pack of eneloops recently, and they still had a decent amount of the original charge left in them.

yes, but the £3.99 you quote is EACH - the OP's price is for a pack of four!

No, the 7dayshop ones are £3.99 for a pack of 4 plus plastic case, delivered. I have many and they are very good. Probably coming from the same factory.

Just ordered some from 7dayshop.com, couldn't face the hoi polloi at Sainsbury's and imagine they wouldn't have them in Warrington anyway.

Great technology, hope they impress in my camera.

Do you need a special charger for this type of batteries? I have a Uniross aab01690 fast charger that is only a few years old, but it came with standard 2100mH NiHM batteries, not these.

you're right - how did I miss that! - especially as I've bought plenty from them in the past!

I think a fast charger (1 hour or less) is not recommended, but apart from that, a standard charger works

got them from London Colney. great work OP. Nice to see a sanisbury deal pay off.
BTW just used them and they are fully charged and ready to rock.
#27
I have various Eneloop type batteries, the 7dayshop ones really aren't as good as the branded ones, however they are cheap so they do have their applications.
Generally, the Japanese made ones are a bit better then the chinese ones. If you are feeling particularly geeky give it a Google and look for some reviews.

Sainsburys doncaster frenchgate centre has the four pack AA £3.09p and four pack AAA for £3.06p
also 2 AA & a charger for £4.99
#29
Sainsburys Ruislip doesn't have any of these. Bloomin typical. I rarely see any of these good deals at my local.

So what's the difference between these and say:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/gp-batts-2100-series-aa-nimh-rechargeable-batteries-4-pack-00852069-pdt.html

I get the sony's can be used straight from the box and the won't leak power, but in my son's leapfrog console/radio controlled car, both of which he plays with every day am i going to notice the difference?
