This is a great home cinema system - got it from Amazon couple of weeks ago at £117 - but it's now back up to £148.

At the moment this is a good price for the system - but I wonder if Amazon will discount it again?

Hot today... tomorrow - who knows?...

Thanks for the post lucas4

Great system well worth the money

Voted hot, I was torn between this and the more expensive DAV-IS10. I went for the latter, Sony make quality systems though.

Not according to the Sony website unfortunately.

The UK version does not play divx. Apparently there is no fix for this. But i was able to plug my 320GB WD Passport HDD into the USB port and it plays mp3 from it! Wll chuffed! The sound is amazing too.

True it won't play Divx. I brought mine for use with a PS3 and that plays Divx so we get there in the end. Excellent bit of kit and just scared myself silly today by playing Dead Space.

My local sainsburys had a couple of these last week for the same price (i know because i came home & looked up the system to see if it was any good).

What's the DAV-IS10 like? torn between that and the DAV-IS50 - but I want to know - do you have to have the bass speaker near the TV? I would want it behind sofa but can't tell whether it needs all the inputs directly into the bass speaker or whether there is a separate input for everything?

Cheers!

Could this just be used as an amp/receiver/speaker set by purely channeling to it via the optical in audio from my computer, and also having it connected to my TV and all sound from devices connected to my TV going through it?

I want this to add some punch to my TV right, so everything connected to the TV would output audio via this system and not the TV speakers. is that possible? re the optical cable, i want to also output audio from my HTPC on the ocassions when i pipe video content to my plasma, as DVI cant carry audio can i pipe the audio thru this?

Sure that was the DV260? My local Sainsburys had a slightly lower spec model for £120 - think it was DV230.

The limiting factor is the control cable that connects the main unit to the sub which is 3 meters long in the DAV-IS10. This is a special multi-way cable that carries audio and power to the sub unit, so there is no easy way to extend it. All the other speakers connect to the sub.

why is this expired :(. ive checked RS and google and the price is exactly the same as here :(. plz un-expire somebody :)

I personally would not bother with an "all in one" system such as this... you struggle to upgrade them, usually paired with a poor dvd player, they lack inputs so you struggle to connect other components and upgrading is virtually impossible due propriorty connections and passive sub...

Save your money and get a decent AV amp + speakers or go for a stereo system. All in one boxes are a waste of money. :x

Plus these are in very short supply at richers... good luck getting one but imho id go for a decent system above this....
