Voted hot. I would have given you some rep, but I've given out too much in the last 24 hours! :x Soz.

Good price but a old camera and with only an 800k pixel lens the quality maybe a little poor, but perfect for capturing the family moments.
Only £30 cash back with this model so makes the price £250.50

100% agree with you. 800K pixel is really a poor quality;-)

Do you actuallly have one of these or have you read this somewhere? I bought one of these just on Monday, independent of this posting here (I got it because it was most popular on pricerunner) and can categorically say there is no sound (or certainly nothing my ears - or my dog's - can pick up). It is these unqualified statements that really p me off.

I agree regarding noise of HD. Tested one in Currys a few weeks ago.
After researching extensively I don't think HD based camcorders have developed enough for me to invest in one.

HD's are somewhat delicate things and would be a lot more of a pain to fix while I was on holiday somewhere a bit remote compared to a tape based camcorder

Well then I suggest you dont record in silence, because I havent heard a thing. Overall judgement on the camera: It is excellent. Very light and handy-size, certainly versus the DVD camera I had, and no more reason to carry all those DVDs/films with you. In fact, there is a comment on the forum about Hard Drive being new/temperamental - but I experienced problems with DVDs on holiday whereby they let me down (access error), which I dont imagine to experience with HD.

Picture is as good if not better than my old one, not the highest spec I know, but at that price and considering one changes this equipment every 3 or so years, not worth paying more for higher hard drive capacity, higher resolution, hi-definition etc. After all, in three years time, there will be something else out there and the other things I mentioned will be standard.

what if you are on safari and trying to record a lion eating or how about taking a video of your baby sleeping. You don't need the whirring of the HD in the background do you?

Amazon reduced price to £275 ..so you get it at £245 after Sony Cashback :)
