Good spot, thanks dude :-)

Had a quick look at the reviews on Amazon, the bundled software seems to get a big thumbs down :-(

Will investigate further!

HD - once you've tried it you won't go back. I think 2010 will be a year of good HD camcorder deals.

I can't decide between one like this or a HD one, already have the kodak Zi8 which looks great on a 40" HD TV. Going to Florida in May so need a decent digital camcorder. HD camcorders range from £400 upwards with varying reviews. I think memory cards are the way to go as a knock or a bang could dammage a hard disc losing all the data. Been looking for weeks now, suppose I could buy it, test it and flog it on Ebay. Always buy from John Lewis when possible for the extra years guarantee.

OK i already bought the Sony DCR-SX30 from Comet with voucher before Christmas. After the £30 cashback that has cost me £100 quid. Should I return that one in exchange for this ? Read a few reviews on SX30 and possibly an issue with pic quality in low light but films on yuotube look ok to me.

Can anyone recommend a good HD camcorder? Around £500 ish?

I bought this last week from Comet (Quidco too on reserve & collect)
(The £30 sony cashback deal was being advertised until end of December 2009 only).

IMO, a fab camcorder for the money. Extremely simple to use, Easy to transfer the footage onto your PC, or directly onto a disc via a PC (if you don't want to edit)

I previously had a Canon which took discs, but lost a whole section of precious memories as the double sided disc didn't record correctly, gutted!

This one records directly onto a hard-drive so hopefully, won't lose any more footage.

The only thing I need to buy for peace of mind is another battery, which I will pick up on EBAY.
