[SIZE=2]Code seems to work on other sony camcorders. Problems with the model in this deal are that it does not take still pics and the screen is poor.[/SIZE]

Don't forget 5% Quidco!

Editor's Choice Award in Digital Video Magazine - July 2007 - Issue 23
In their conclusion they say 'The HC27 offers a great combo of ease of use and performance. Yes, you will find cheaper cams on the market but this one is still a bargain. It's ability to deliver home movies, and the control you can administer over them, is hugely impressive. As well as convincing at the top end of consumer movie making, Sony is still catering for more modest budgets'
They also say in their verdict 'This camcorder just goes to show that mini DV is a long way from being written off, despite the developments in High-def and Hard Disk Drive technology. Thanks to the simplicity of this machine, it's a perfect camcorder for the novice to shoot great video' and give it an 88% rating

can you record onto dvd

can you record onto dvd

Not directly with this model, but you can capture footage and burn onto DVD through your PC.

Just ordered one , a perfect present and a bargain to boot. I think this model has DV [ilink] out ,in which case a home DVD recorder with the correct port will allow capture directly from camera .Alternativly , you can link the AV leads from the camera to the inputs of a DVD recorder or video to capture, quality wont be as good as DV but better than nowt . I actually use Firewire to my PC with Pinnacle with great results from my Panasonic camcorder. It's not difficult , if you have a Pc ,just buy a Firewire card [they normally come with a cable and software for about £15] and your ready to make that Hollywood blockbuster ................hopefully

Which? Says:
This low-cost camcorder from Sony offers decent video quality, and should be reliable given Sony’s good track record for reliability.
The DCR-HC27E records on Mini-DV tape and has a x20 optical zoom. It's one of the lightest camcorders around at just 420 grams. Video quality is decent; it's better than the average model in dim light.

Autofocussing ability is great: it focuses quickly and reliably, and is outstanding in dim light where many other camcorders have problems. Battery life is a good – 1 hour 41 minutes of recording. Sound quality is pretty good too, and this Sony is better than most at rejecting wind noise.

Features like the ability to add an external microphone, gain-up and a video lamp are all lacking, but it does come with Sony’s Nightshot mode that lets you record in darkness using infrared. Don’t expect good image quality with this though.

You can't take still photos with the HC27E. Although there's a widescreen recording option, the LCD screen only has a 4:3 ratio – smaller than normal 16:9 ones.

Sharpness and colour on this screen aren’t as good as most, and viewing in outdoor bright light is especially hard. Indoor performance is decent, though.

The HC27E has Sony’s touch screen menu system, which can be a bit fiddly to use.

Pros: Price, excellent autofocus performance
Cons: No still photo function, LCD screen disappoints

I think if you were looking at HD it would be the other way.

This is a great MiniDV camcorder and an excellent price. Compared to the Canon MD101 there is no contest, the Canon feels much cheaper and doesn't have a touchscreen etc, the Sony feels good quality.

Leeds Iunctus, Quattuor - Millwall, Duo surely??
Still sounds like a pretty impressive price for a camcorder to me.

Leeds would have been known as Loidis in Roman times and Iunctus means connected, not United in Latin, so surely it should be Loidis Unite:?

I just had a look at one of these in a local shop and it's a cracker, the low-light shooting is brilliant with a function that gains up the foreground when the background is brighter than the subject. It basically does the same job that a fill-in flash does with still cameras, but all electronically.

Very light and easy to handle so I've just bought one, cheers for the heads-up on this as £129 (plus the 6% Quidco) is just too good a price to miss!
#26
Not forgetting the 2 year warranty. Great deal.

Mine just got delivered today . Got the battery charging now . What a nice little camcorder , and I mean little and very light . I like the touch screen and it seems very easy to operate with very few switches on it. Just by a slight turn of the jog wheel at the top switches between camera & playback .Will have to try it out and compare the quality to my old Panny [GS11]. I bought the Sony for me mum , she's allways wanted one and for the price it was a bit of a steal .
thanks for this deal.

JVC on bottom, surely not? any reason for that?
#29
Reliability problems I would think!!!! Staring at a dead GR-DVL367EK as I type, not the first either..........
Bought a cheap Canon to replace the JVC and not had a single problem.

Ordering one of these as a gift. :santa:

Price now down to £122 after the £20 voucher and not forgetting 6% Quidco :-D

Can a mod edit the title please with the new price:thumbsup:
