Reading the reviews and questions it appears that these only work with Sony phones.

Had these with a Sony Xperia Z3, very average performance and noise cancellation is rubbish, wouldn't recommend.

Will only work with Sony phones from Z2 up (I be leave) I had them with my Z2 they are good as the phone does the noise cancelling part, they are a little bad for breaking on the headphone jack connector Sony didn't think through it being in a pocket and should have put a L shape connector for the Jack.

i have these on a z5, noise isolation works OK, nothing noticeable in the cancellation side :(

These are model no. MDR-NC31E. I use mine frequently on Virgin Trains and the NC is pretty decent. SQ is fine too. These are still pricey but definitely worth it. (I got a pair for a fiver from cex :))
