Yeah, good. But still overpriced for a 10mp camera.

I have got a 2nd hand camera. Not one of these but a 10 MP.

I paid £60 for it without a battery & battery charger & leads.

I had a spare battery, bought the charger circa £15 & a nice card reader for it.

& the a leather case.

I spent about £100 on my used 10 MP camera & it is still worth at least £100 all day long to people that know about cameras.

The newer version of mine sells for £330 & that is the cheapest you will find it in the UK. I don't actually think they added much more MPs on the newest version.

I bought the new one & put it on ebay when it was released (after trying it out of course). I am sure it was a 12MP.

Funny thing is the pictures on my used 10MP are better than the new 12MP.

As anyone will know that knows about cameras MPs do not mean a thing.

Oh dear oh dear

Its not about the megapixels !!

Sony have gone for quality not quantity on there new cameras which i hope other manufacturers will follow but its difficult when most people think its all about the megapixels :(

I agree with deanos,
If you buy cheap you buy twice, you also get what you pay for.

e.g.
Im looking at a new TV & can get a 40" for less than £400 that is 1080p. That price wont get me LED etc etc. im looking at £600+ & that will only be 1080p but will be half the power consumption. :)

Just because the resolution labeled is the same there will be other features your not getting.

I bought the HX5 as it was the best spec on paper. In reality It wasn't that great for low light conditions and some of the settings produced mushy images, also the panoramic function is a bit gimmicky in the size of image it produces. I sold it on and bought the Panasonic TZ10 which is a much better camera.

Interestingly enough I found the exact opposite - much prefer the HX5 to the TZ10. Both good cameras, but it's down to personal preference at this level.

Yep. Having tried the HX5, I also opted for the TZ10. Better pictures in a range of conditions.

This is still a good deal at this price. Heat added.

I would pay more to go back to 6mp but have much less noise at higher ISOs - I think the industry has taken a wrong turn in the last couple of years but is now starting to realise it when there is no point going higher than 10mp and what people want now is quality.

Unfortunately it would be suicide for a manufacturer to put out a 6mp camera but really you dont need any more than that.

Spot on people - TZ10 is a better buy in my opinion having used both.

Damn if the TZ10 posted to me on 28th Dec still hasn't turned up, damned Royal Mail (First Class my backside).

Dying to try it out.

tz10 and hx5 both good camera but prefer my sony and totally agree the sooner people realise more mega pixel does not mean better quality the better things will be
#14
Good price for a good camera, allways carry it with me.

If you put in SALE10 for your code it brings it down to £189.00

Amazon? If so lodge a complaint and they'll refund the extra for 1st class (just did for me anyway). Great camera - you won't be disappointed.

10Mp is NOT a problem - more pixels often is (noise in low light). You really don't understand cameras do you?

My vote still goes to the Panny TZs though.

I think you will find a Cannon is a large artillery weapon!

Today (jan 8th) I got the canon , the picture quality was good, but the video quality and sound was poor for the bux (& not Full HD), so i took it back and got the Lumix TX10 this was great both in picture and video, but poor results in low light, so back to shop and a got the Sony DSC HX5 this is Full 1080hd and it knocks Both the Canon and Lumix into a cocked hat.
However the down side to the Sony is you dont have a settiing for Sepia & B&W shots , so any Sepia frames has to be post edited.
Low light aint bad but not as good as i would like.

Trouble is there is no perfect camera out there that will do everything perfectly, sounds like the Sony is a good camera tho, im tempted myself but keep looking at the WX5 for same price as its more pocket friendly

They must love you in the shops - you can read up on all those points in advance and then search the cheapest retailer (won't be the same one for all three). I know that Jessops are very uncompetitive on the TZ10 at the moment for example.
