Can't see it online but I was in the Swansea store this morning and they had loads of these at £79.99. Was tempted to do it but wanted to check out if its worthwhile changing from my Canon Ixus 60 (Wouldnt mind some Image Stablization but not sure if it's really worthwhile!)

Anyway seems a nice little compact and has some good enough features and very tasty at £79.99 maybe?

Can't find a direct link on their site sorry. Linked you to the Sony site for now.

not great reviews lol, still, sounds like a bargain.

Yeah compacts are so hit and miss. For £80 though I thought it'd perhaps halt people buying the low spec Polaroid branded camera in the slot next to this one!! (Don't quote me on that but you know what I mean, £80 isn't too bad and it will get the basics done well enough for a lot of users!).

is this better than (or as good as) the Fuji Finepix Z10FD? i know someone who has the fuji and it seems easy to use and spot on pictures for a compact.

I have one of these and it is a great camera. Got mine for £120 early this year. Thought that was a good price but £80 IS GREAT.

I still can't decide if to make the switch from my Canon!

Very good little camera for the money.

Its a FLIPPIN AWESOME CAMERA AND FOR THIS PRICE ITS DEFO WORTH IT !!!

make no mistake, this little cameras has AMAZING OPTICS, and can take almost SLR quality images........ it is tiny, and the lens is amazing, and very high res images.......

the lens on this is FAR BETTER than the stock lens on a Canon 350 / 400 slr , easy to compare when you own both these cameras....

these were £ 249 cameras when they 1st came out, the BEST BY FAR of all the compacts, nothing compares to these.........

£ 80 ? utter bargain. nothing at this price is even half as good.

(Wouldnt mind some Image Stablization but not sure if it's really worthwhile!)

makes the difference between blurred shots and sharp ones , in anything other than bright daylight.... ie IS is essential for UK.

i feel exactly the same i have an canon ixus70 however always wanted this sony version, well the manager of sainsburys has reserved 1 for me its in silver, wish it was in black that would have benn sleek

Where would they normally stock these in Sainsburys?
#15
I had one of these before i got my Fuji Finepix f20.

This camera was about 200 quid at the time, it was really poor. Night time pictures were very noisy and even indoor pictures were not the best.
It was however really small and fit into your pocked very easily and really stylish. Prob worth a shot at 80 quid but in terms of quality of the photo it was far from ideal.

Must be voted hot. This was £229 in the Middlesbrough store for a long time.
#17
the porter
bolton store £199 u sure you got the right sony?

Remember this camera has been on sale for quite some time. I go in the Middlesbrough store nearly everyday as I work right next door to it and when Sainsburys want rid of something they usually offer massive discounts so it wouldnt surprise me.

is this better than the Sony Cyber-shot W110 Digital Camera (7.2MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD - Silver recently posted?

What is the movie mode like with these things? Do you hear the refocusing clicking sounds that some digicams make in movie mode?

I was too, can anyone confirmed this has expired?

I just went to Sainsburys Whitechapel (now safely back in Liverpool St I am happy to report ;)). They had one left in stock but it was obviously a return - the box was battered and the manuals etc were all over the place. Knowing there is a recall on the unit, and knowing that's a return I'd have had to be desperate to pick that one up! I passed on it obviously.

Anyone been to Islington by any chance? That's my next nearest store and the morons aren't answering their phone. Not heading all the way over there to find the same thing I did at Whitechapel :(
#25
Must be expired because people cant find them? Must only be on offer in Swansea? Definately the right camera and exact price but the link about the fault in this camera might be what has effected the price? I wonder.

Available this evening in Basildon, although the display price was £199.99 actual price as posted.

Just picked up the last one from the Hedge End store

Got one in Edinburgh this evening/reserved this morning. It is charging the battery now. Thanks for the tip Agentjont.

I checked the serials against the list on Sony website - no match. TBH, I too would have bought even if it was affected at this price. Sony would have either fixed or replaced. That can't be bad.

One thing I did notice is that the box was opened. In fact, my mate got one at the same time and that one was opened too. Both cameras were unmarked and all all the bits were there, just the Sony Sticker was peeled off and re-sellotaped back on. Hopefully there will be no surprises after the battery was charged. :)
