This is a copy of the Amazon lightning deal a few days ago for the Sony DSCHX60 Compact Digital Camera with Wi-Fi and NFC - Black ( 20.4MP, 30x Optical Zoom).
It was listed at £251.41 before this deal, plus you qualify for the Sony £30 cash back with this camera, so it is a massive saving in all and similar cameras can't touch it at this price.
The deal will only be live for a couple hours, so be quick if you are keen!

Please note if you do purchase it and want a good case to go with it go for the 'Sony LCS-CSJ Soft Carry Case' ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-LCS-CSJ-Soft-Carry-Cybershot/dp/B000NWKY24/ref=pd_sim_ce_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=15Y6F52HXWAH02ESHR3Y ). The one Amazon recommends with this item the 'LCSCSQ Soft Carrying Case is a bit too small.

Yeah, they have increased it, but it is still a big saving and with the cash back on top, it makes it only £139

Good price but...I've had two Sony DSC-HX20 with the G lens which let dirt into it. So beware, even keeping the camera in its case at all times when not using it did not help. Other than this nagging fault they are great little cameras.

Just missed it! I've been after the 50 then saw this. Damn!

Dithering... Reviews say the video isn't amazing outdoors. I've got the HX9V and video is good, same as this.

Can anybody help recommend a camera for good quality HD video for fast moving objects i. e aircraft?

I have just bought one of these cameras as part of a lightening deal. It looks as if the £30 has been automatically deducted to bring the price down to £169. You can also get £5 off if you pay with Mastercard and you use the code.

It is also easy to confuse with last year's model, the 50 instead of 60. They also do a GPS version.

My HX20v went back three times with dirt in the lens - 4th time was out of warranty and Sony refused to fix it. Great camera despite the dirt issues and taking an age between shots.

I have an HX400v at present which I think uses the same Bionz x processor as the HX60v - definitely an improvement on the HX20v although image quality is worse to no better and it's still anything but speedy between shots.

The cashback is from Sony - it hasn't been pre-applied. "You have already claimed this deal" refers to the Lightning deal - not the cashback. You shouldn't have any trouble claiming from Sony - Amazon is the first retailer on their list.

Thank you for your reassurance over the cash back.

I had a quick look at the camera in Dixons before I ordered. The mechanism reminded me strongly of my Sony A58. The Sony A 58 is what many people would describe as a proper camera - big and bulky with lens that you can change. Instead of using a mirror that flips out of the way when you take a shot, it uses a semi-translucent mirror.

Previously I bought Nixon V1 at a much reduced price. I gave it to my son because it had quite a low pixel count. Although I very much liked the optical view finder that I could use without glasses.

This latest purchase is very much an impulse buy based on price. I have noticed that my son does not appreciate the optical viewfinder of my Nixon V1, so after the novelty of the new Sony has worn off, I might do a swap. I am hoping that the A 58 type mechanism used by the Sony will help me understand my new camera and possibly help me get more out of my A 58.

I just think this technology offers very good value for money!

I recently went on a mountain walk in which I did not want to carry a heavy camera.

I also saw an accident where I witnessed a parked scooter being knocked over by a car. I took a photo of the car number plate with my mobile phone but when I got home I realised that I had covered the camera with my finger.

I keep an old Casio Exlim camera in the glove box of my car.
