Why is it cheeky?

I remember this was on here a week ago or something, was it cheaper than this or is this the cheapest it has been? Just wondering whether to buy or not.

Also can anyone tell me whether this has a live view finder thing so that you can look at the screen instead of the viewfinder?

Thanks

Live view only on the A300K or A350K, you can get £50 off the A350K with the same voucher above.

Yes - that's why i said it was a bit cheeky.

Why why why - did no-one provide the cashback link over the weekend? That would have sealed the deal for me.

No it doesn't, the A300 does, and then the A350 which has a 14mp sensor. Plenty of info in the original thread on this camera.

LOL I'm not bothered :) I am however flaming annoyed (having spent hours searching the www for any eminent A200 cashback with no luck) that I bought this Camera for £221.00 on Friday night, if I'd only waited until Saturday I'd have got it for £218.40 - £30.00 = £188.40 :x
#15
I looked like hell for info on this cashback but it was nowhere to be found. I can't even find it on Amazon now unless I use the link!

Friday 31st 08.43

Just a quick thought guys, I have stumbled across a website that is advertising a £30 rebate from sony from tomorrow on this camera ? I just wonder if this is going to be a universal offer and those of us that have already purchased have missed the boat ???

Here is the info that I stumbled across.

I was going to order it Friday but thought i wait until Sat morning and am glad i did as it went a little cheaper to £218 and now i can get he £30 cashback too.
#19
hmm am i missing something? with the £30 it comes to £218, where are people getting this EXTRA £30 discount from??

the 10% code is no longer valid

A lot of hassle to save a couple of quid though. Its not like amazon or sony have done anything wrong.

But there are no actual details of the cash back offer there - if you click on the link for details it doesnt take you to them

The new offer is £30 cashback off £242.67 so £212.67 but if you bought it on the weekend when the old offer was on which was 10% which you could have bought for £218.xx you can still claim the cashback and the offer starts of the 1st
#22
Wow, what is with the DSLRs coming down to nearly 200nicker recently, that's just crazy stuff.

Hot hot hot.

If you look at the website it stated on the side for purchases made from 01.11.08 to 31.12.08 i know it was hard to see but thought i would just wait a little as i knew from the other thread that the amazon deal ended on sunday night.

yeah i get that bit, but this offer was posted today, AFTER the good deal expired.

i would have grabbed this if i had known the £30 cash back was on on saturday or sunday as it really would have been a right old deal then.

i will hold out now for some one else to knock some cash off it while the 30 quid cashback is still around.
#25
The was mention of the cashback offer in the old thread but it was 100% if you could get it or when it was valid for.

I saw it - I was just a bit unsure about the conditions attached - as there are no details provided.

However fortune favours the brave - so congrats to all that got this for £188 - THAT IS A HOT DEAL INDEED.

Thats the whole point ! on Thurs/Fri one or two companys advertised C/B on the A200 bringing it down to a price still higher than the Amazon deal. No one could find any mention of a Sony C/B deal on the A200 right across the board. someone even called Sony ! Hence orders were placed incase the Amazon deal expired early. You were fortunate to have waited until Sat/Sun before placing an order not even knowing that Amazon was about to join the C|B scheme.

I bought it regardless of the cashback so that was an extra bonus which will now pay for the card and maybe a case

I was about to buy this today but have stayed away as

Not only there is no Live view but also no depth of field preview too and not exactly great pictures at high ISO...

Now am waiting for a good deal to com up on Canon 1000d...or Sony A350...

If you are ok with the above I think it is the hottest deal for DSLR Camera-

If you follow the voucher link above you can get £50 off the A350 with in the same deal so it should be
£311.39 for A350 Body Only or
£349 for A350 Body inc 18-70mm lens
for some reason the Amazon site doesn't show the £50 off the other camera, but it is here

I really don't 'get' the need for live view on an SLR? Surely, the major selling point for an SLR is the bright, clear image in the viewfinder.

Using an LCD panel to compose the image, you may as well get a 'SLR style' Digicam?

Live view would not even figure on my list, it's just a gimmick.
#35

It's for the newbies who are stepping up from a simple 'point and click' camera up to an SLR, or those that don't know any better.

I don't know of any half-decent photographer who would need live view. As you say, it's a gimmick.

Users of standard SLRs never required a live view for years now, so digital SLR users shouldn't either .. it's just an attempt to try to sway the P&C brigade to spend money on a new (+ more expensive) camera. :whistling:

You would view the shots on the small screen AFTER the image was taken (you would need to hold the camera up to your eye to compose the image in the first instance).

Whereas 'live view' would allow you to compose the picture on the rear screen BEFORE clicking the shutter release button (that big button on the top ;-) ).
