Quality that won’t weigh you down

Who wants to be weighed down by their DSLR? Small, light and comfortable to hold, there’s less to carry on days out, weekends away or longer trips abroad. Now there’s no excuse for leaving your camera at home.

Control the show in comfort

Connect the camera to your BRAVIA television – then effortlessly control playback functions with your BRAVIA TV’s remote. There’s no need to get up from your favourite chair to enjoy the show in sparkling HD

Super-fast shooting that’s always in focus

Don’t let your digital SLR slow you down. Unique to Sony, Quick AF Live View lets you enjoy live image preview without sacrificing the convenience of fast, accurate autofocus and rapid continuous shooting.

Great results made beautifully simple

Is this much of an improvement over the a230 or a330?

I'm sure these are great cameras, but I can't help thinking that if you're going to spaff £400 on a DSLR you ought to buy Canon or Nikon.

This particular model does not get great reviews probably worth looking at one of the newer models from sony they have a cash back promotion on at the moment, perhaps better to find the cheapest price for a 580 you can find and then get the cash back.

Didn't like the look of the Sony's, so i went for the Pentax k-x twin lens kit from Currys for £375 delivered.

Cameras are like politicians, just because a lot of people buy into them doesn't necessarily mean they are the best tool for the job.

not bad camera especially if you allready have sony/minolta lenses, also in this price basket one my consider nikon 3100/5000 or canon 500d and its more expensive brother 550d.

Sony has two advantages. It is a continuation of the Minolta line so there are plenty of high quality second hand lens available cheaply and it has built in image Stabilisation.

I'm not sure what the A380 is like as I use an A700 and will replace that when its replacement is eventually announced.
