Mine arrived from Play today. Got it for under £200 using the RAC Code and the Cashback. :)

Spoke to Sony Customer Services about the receipt that you need to submit with the Cashback form and they told me just to take a print of the Order Confirmation or Dispatch email. Just something with the order date on it basically.
#4
Regarding the cashback - does sony honour sales from play.com (since they want the original sales receipt).

Also could someone help me out with the live view feature - i know that this camera has no live view but is that so improtant? Is this a good camera for beginning DSLR photography.

The reason I am so tempted to buy it is because I had a old Minolta Dynax 5 Film camera and supposedly the lenses of those will work with this camera.

Excellent thanks :) Used the RAC code, plus had some PlayFunds, so it cost me almost £200 exactly minus the £30 cashback = £170 plus some Quidco.

Been eyeing up this camera for a while, so have bitten the bullet.

Lowepro Rezo 160 Shoulder Bag For Digital SLR & 1-2 Lenses - Black  + Make sure you get a lens filter (protects the lens if nothing else) Mymemory good place to buy one.

If anyone has a varsity card and has registered it you can get 5% off by typing your card number in as a discount voucher, instead of using the RAC code.

Got one of these couple weeks back when it was a bit more. Terrific camera, and the kit lens is surprisingly OK (usually they're ****).

Well worth getting some old Minolta AF lenses though - I picked up a 50mm F1.7 prime for £70 and the picture quality is incredible. At F1.7 you also don't need a flash indoors at all, with the anti-shake and big DSLR sensor, and it's great at night shots.

Flippin heck no !!! Amazon for the case £14.00. mymemory for the Filter ~ £6.00. You need to check the diameter of the Lens, think its 55mm on the kit Sony

The 450d is around twice the price of the A200 so if you can easily afford the 450d then I'd say go for that as it's a great camera. The Canon 1000D is a closer match to the A200 but even then it's still a lot more money. I paid £240 for my A200 as my budget was around £250 and I liked it more than the other DSLRs in that price range. It also won the 2008 TIPA award for besr entry level DSLR.

canon 450D get much better picture quality at high iso, cheapest way you get that is to buy £450
Comet vouch from MBNA lifestyle with 12% discount, then use this vouch to buy at Comet store, after £ 50 cashback, you total pay---345 pounds.( by the way, you will need mbna card for this offer).

SONY A200 is really good value for money, but pictue quality is not good as canon at high iso.

it depends if you like to pay 150 pounds more for little better picture quality , liveview and more choice for lens.

I got one a few weeks ago for £237 and I thought that deal would not be beaten!
It is a decent camera for the money, with a usable kit lens.

One tip I would give to anyone buying one of these cameras is when you take your first few shots with this camera, try and shoot something with a solid colour that fills the frame like a white sheet or something, then check the image on your computer. If your camera has dust on the brand new sensor it will show up on your computer screen as round blobs in your picture. This will help to ensure you have not brought the camera from a batch where a small bit of dust managed to get into the eyepiece and image sensor, like the first one I brought and returned, the replacement camera was fine....
#24
hello, can I connect A200 directly to a TV or computer so that I can have live-view of objects when shootting still images indoor? thanks.

I delayed over buying this because of the lack of depth of field preview. But when I thought about how often I really used that feature, I realised you can get by without it, and you can always take a quick shot and check the DOF on screen.

Is there a parrot in here? Does the parrot want their blue peter badge now or later?

I only quoted your post as it was a similar deal (PRICEWISE) offered using a different method, so it might benefit someone!

Your method has the need for a MBNA card, turning up at an airport to fly doesn't! Whoopee dooo, look at me, give me the badge!

So take your exclamation marks and ram them the same place you can put you MBNA card!
