OK, but it has been this price at Argos for a while now, the only difference being the inclusion of the case and if anyone paid £49.99 for it, they need their head examined! Not really hot IMO (but not voting cold either).
#2
Better deal as the case would be worth another £15 or £20.

Good entry level camera, nice price

As I'm as thick as pigshit when it comes to cameras, I did what someone on here who impressed me with his knowledge suggested a few weeks ago, namely I bought a second hand Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ3 on Ebay for £58.

I find it does all I could ever want, for a camera thicky, and I don,t feel like I've been robbed.

Reviews on this cam aint that hot to be honest. Its a good price but thats about it.

camera is nothing special, much better off going second hand

but, as usual a mod found it, so its gets hot

great price and great camera. i used to have the a200 and it had always amazed me with what it was capable of.

Hm, tempting. I've had by eye on the a330 as my first dslr, but the best price for it is £340. Seems the only difference is that the 330 has live view. I just can't make up my mind whether live view is worth £70. Dilemna.

Other than the 330's LV and tilting screen, the only other difference is that the 330's VF is smaller than the 230. So unless you truly value LV, I'd go for the 230 out of the two cameras.

I have live view in my Olympus E-520 and have rarely ever used it, never have found the need, though the tilting LCD screen would probably make it more usable.

Been waiting for a good deal on this or the nikon/canon entry-level DSLRs. This one is good because the image stabilisation is in the body rather than the lens, so any lens you stick in it will still produce stabilised images. Think I'll have one last play with it in-store before going for it.

Posted this the other day in another Sony DSLR deal...

I have a Sony A200 and a Sony A700 and love em both.Don't be a sheep and feel that you must have a Nikon or Canon to be a good photographer.I never went to a store to see any of the cameras for myself(bought of internet and got lucky that they are perfect for me) but I would recommend going to your nearest camera store and testing them out first so you know what feels right for you.

Worth £49.99?! They're over-charging you, guys! :whistling:

not a bad deal, but you'd be better off buying a used Sony A200 over the current A230 as sony decided to remove some features and ergonomics from the current A2/3xx models.

The sony A450/500/550 models are the true replacements, but sadly at the £400-500 range. At those prices i'd say the pentax KX offers the best bang for bucks

IMHO Live View drains the battery quicker and makes you look a little silly holding an SLR at arms length squinting at a screen... ;)

you're using it wrong...

Live view isn't about replacing the viewfinder for regular shots - it's for shooting arkward angles, were your wouldn't be able to reach normally (or at least without getting dirty) for example taking low shots of flowers using the tilting screen without lying down on the ground. Holding the camera above a crowd, quickly pan around on a tripod, taking a sneaky street shot without making it look obvious etc etc
