keep meaning to buy the wife a decent camera, but frankly I have no idea if this is any good or not - though undoubtedly cheap for a DSLR with a lens if you want an overly generic positive!
#2
Worth a punt if you want to get into DSLR photography at a bargain price

Decent camera, if you're looking for one then you can't go wrong for this price, I'm in love with my Canon 1000D though. Although that cost a fair bit more.

I have this Canon as well ... awesome camera:) But Sony Price is hot!!!

Put back in it's box when your typical Argos customer got bored with it after a few days and brought it back for a refund within 28 days.

I wouldn't worry about missing it as the A290 that replaces this has been announced and will hit the shelves soon. May as well wait and get the latest.

Great price but don't forget that when you start DSLR photography you are buying into a system.
After a while you might want a couple more lenses, and maybe a flashgun etc...

Nothing wrong with that, but as your hobby expands, you *might* wish you'd gone Nikon or Canon to start with.

Of course, there's nothing from the big two at this price point, but if you did buy the base Nikon/Canon models then those extra lenses etc will be just fine as you buy better camera bodies.

Plenty of old Minolta lenses for the Sony though...Glad I didn't follow the Nikon/Canon crowd and opted for a Sony A200.Moved up to the Sony A700 and couldn't be more happier that I went for the Sony brand.

Argos don't take cameras back under the 28 day thing

Why bother with HUKD if you're one of those people who are blinded by the 'latest model' nonsense regardless of the price?

I bought the Sony A200 last year when this was available from the Argos outlet. It was absolutely immaculate, in the original packaging and I have my doubts as to whether it was ever used. Very pleased with it.

same here, and the beercan still turns out great shots
also got an m42 adaptor (chipped type, £17 off ebay) which lets me use some old 70's & 80's CZJ lenses along with the on-board SSS system
I've also got the Jupiter 11A, MIR 1B, Helios lenses etc (the Russians nicked the technology from the CZJ labs when they entered Germany after the war)

I can use my old M42 Pentax prime lenses on my Canon. What's your point? :whistling:
