I had no idea Lovefilm still existed! Decent price, if you're in the market for a DVD player.

Why bother with DVD when you can get a blu-ray player for not much more?

Not a Sony one, but still... http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/asda-instore-found-poole-samsung-bd-j4500-blu-ray-dvd-player-32-2589258

Granted a second hand Sony Playstation 3 is a bit of a jump in price, but you get a two year warranties with CEX these days. So for £60ish, you can pick up a PS3, and then get a remote for it for not a lot more. Two systems in one, and allows for some smart TV stuff as well. Even if you're not into gaming, it's one of the better ways of playing blu-rays out there. Unless you're going to jump to 4K blu-rays, but since you're eyeing up DVD players, I'm guessing you don't have a 4K TV. (Neither do I by the way, I'm waiting on the OLED 4K 3D screens to drop in price)

I got a sony blu ray player for the kids room last year from tesco for 35. Very compact. Obviously that wasnt full price but neither is this deal its about constantly looking and getting a bit of luck

My PS3 broke (YLOD) so with it went my Blu Ray and DVD player and I have been looking for a cheap replacement for a while but I'm in two minds about holding out for a UHD player price drop like with the Xbox One S or buy a used PS3.

The Xbox One S is great, the only issue I have with it is a bit of audible drive noise when playing UHD Bluray but it's by no means excessive, very quiet for other uses.

It really depends how much you want to spend as I wouldn't expect to see the Xbox One S much less than £200 for a long while yet, while you can get a PS3 for £50-£60. If funds are tight i'd go for a PS3 but try and get one of the later models (there were two slim variants released), which are generally regarded as more reliable than the old Phat type, may be slightly dearer but I'd say it's worth it.

That said I've only had one Phat PS3 ever fail on me (dead Bluray), which I was able to replace myself and it works fine again, though it is a bit of a fiddly process and not advised unless you are comfortable opening up consoles...

Does anyone know if you can set this DVD player to multi region? My daughter wants to play region 1 and 4 DVDs in additiin to region 2.

If you read the whole link before knocking it, it's still being sold at Argos for £11 more than this DVD player. It's still not that much of a leap in cash! Even less, if you go by the £29.99 mentioned above as well.

Plus, at the time of my post, there had only been around 1 day and half days difference between the two! Unlike your post, which getting close to 2 whole days after this post, but closer to 3 and half days of the bluray post, in the first place.
