With a Sony Dual Compatible DVD Recorder, not only can you watch your DVDs in pin-sharp, crystal-clarity - you can record all your favourite TV programmes onto DVD as well.

It records and plays back in DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW, and if that's not enough, Sony's intelligent recorders let you save your home movie footage from your MiniDV or Digital 8 camcorder onto DVD to complete your archive!
Other features of this DVD Recorder include J-Peg playback, a zoom feature, video plus+, PAL Progressive scan and MP3 and Picture in Picture which displays a small picture from another source, such as a VCR.
The stylish, slim and versatile RDR-GX210 also enables you to check other sources (e.g. the football scores!) whilst watching once channel or video. This entry-level star also comes equipped with an I-Link so editing your favourite home movies is a doddle!

Be careful people, unless they have changed Sony used to be one of only 4 companies who didn't have codes to make you player 'multi region'.

If they have just ignore me, but I haven't heard if they have.
Hmmmm cant you get dvd recorders for like £60 nowadays -- if it had a hard drive now thats a bargain

A bit of a difference ;)

MR hack here
Thanks for adding the multi region info smashed!
Got one of these machines (for £99 instead of £240) when they first became available. Stood in line early one morning when the local Sony Centre opened.

Never really been pleased with it - DVD playback is fine with good picture and sound. However, the machine takes ages to start up and switch between functions - forget all about grabbing a quick recording when something unexpected turns up on the TV - you'll miss the first 5 mins!

It's the only DVD recorder I have owned so cannot compare agains others, wouldn't go out of my way to recommend though.
I don't know if this is the same one but the reviews ae too good
Just read the reviews! SHOCKING...
No digital tuner
If you are thinking of spending this amount of money then consider spending another £45ish and getting this one...

Panasonic EZ25... it's about to be replaced hence the price drop but the replacement doesn't have an analogue tuner. Expect other suppliers' prices to drop soon too.

The advantages of this DVD recorder over the one posted are :

1. Chase play is possible using DVD-RAM - this is VERY useful.
2. It has a Freeview tuner - this makes setting the timer VERY easy in addition to reducing the amount of remotes you need (get rid of your set top box).
3. Great reviews
4. Upscaling (HDMI output)

There really is no comparison - though granted it is more expensive.
Can you do this - this interests me.

Sony's intelligent recorders let you save your home movie footage from your MiniDV or Digital 8 camcorder onto DVD to complete your archive!

How does this work? - do you need special cables and software?

RUN as fast u can away from this.

if u knew how many drives i had to order for these units in a 2 month period. there were so many units braking that we run out of warehouse space and bear in mind we had to accommodate the entire tv range from sony.
Another + for the Panasonic is the LP mode. This gives 4 hours on a disc. The picture quality is twice as good as all the other recorders in this mode.
Hmmmm cant you get dvd recorders for like £60 nowadays -- if it had a hard drive now thats a bargain

 Hmmmm cant you get cheaper food called tesco value nowadays -- if it had flavour and was healthy now that's a bargain :whistling:
